Default Which IFS?

So I've had a few ideas kicking around about wanting to do a ifs and solid rear, but I'm kinda confused about which type of front? I've heard slash 4x4 but what about the traxxas 1/16 summit? I've tried searching but tapatalk only allows a small amount of searching, I was thinking about something 1/10 scale of a build so it would have either 1.9 or 1.5 tires and wheels, so you guys have any opinions? General saying of which ifs is good?

It would really depend on what kind of build exactly it would be going on. Size of the chassis, WB, ect.... People have used the Slash 4WD front end for a IFS rig like the one Turtle did that was featured in RC Driver magazine. And there was a Campbell IFS rig built a while back on here also. I used to have a Bug IFS rig. It was on a modded 1/10 buggy chassis. If you can be more specific with what your going to do we can try and help more

(Saydee to chime in on this in 3........2..........1..............

Lol
I was thinking about a hybrid of a pre runner baja/ crawler, but not koh. Kinda like the teenycar that team3six had but I've seen most like his use the slash but had someone used the 1/16 summits ifs? I was looking at it today in the hobby shop and it was very similar in length with axial axles. The reason for asking is because ive notice that people who use the slash also use 2.2's and are generally bigger than 1/10

i would go 1/16. the slash 4x4 would not work out too well. the knuckle/hub assembly is huge(u have found a way around this though i think). you could really only use 2.8 or sc wheels.

come to think of it a lot of people are having trouble with stripping 1/16 traxxas gears at work(i work at my LHS) i would try to fin an hpi rs4 MT front end and use that....its beefy and would have a similar ring and pinion count at the Axial axle.

Is the rs4 the same width as the summit?

the rs4 mt is a 1/10 4x4 stadium truck. so i would imagine is is a little wider than the mini summit is. it is probably a little wider than the axial axle.

I would only use a slash 4x4 for the IFS maybe a wraith rear or The RC4wd Hardcore is nice. That 's what I used.

And that's the plan I was thinking of lol using the wraith rear and some kind of ifs up front. What kind of modifications are needed to make the diff area small and out of the way as possible? Asking because the summit had a nice small area nd a ramp thing making sure that it wouldn't catch on anything

Is there any modification that can be done or someone had figured out with on the slash so that I wouldn't have to use 2.8 or short course wheels? Because I noticed that the cc 01 doesnt do that even though it's got ifs? Anyone make a mod to the slash yet so it's like the cc 01?

i will post pic of my idea in a few...

i just kinda threw it together. i used a small chuck of delrin and some nitro 4-tec hubs. i think hpi rs4 hubs may work better though. i know you can fit 2.2 wheels on this setup im sure with low offset wheels and/or traxxas gray wheel hexs you would be able to.

Wonder if that would work with the slash too? Is it strong?
