I don't even know where to begin here with this thread, Ralph has a very long standing here at RCCrawler. Pretty much as long as there has been RCC there has been Ralph. He was built during our first year and he has been going strong ever since. He's been beat on from coast to coast across this country by some of the biggest names in our hobby. He's been dropped, jumped, crashed, rolled, thrown, and even driven over, and he still keeps coming back for more. He's been featured in several magazines, posted on tons of websites, and talked about for years. One thing that stands, it Ralph cannot be killed. Here are what some of our members have to say about him. Quote:

Now for some more on the history lesson. Ralph was originally built in 2004 by RCKJeep, here is the original build thread. Sadly most of the pictures are missing in the thread, but I was able to find a few.

rckjeep ran Ralph for a while then it headed east to JIA. JIA built Ralph up at least 3 times, it had several different paint schemes as well. The most famous one was when it became the first Wheely King axled crawler, and JIA did up the Crawler King paint. I know there was also a Rockstar energy drink version of Ralph running around for a bit, but I could not find any pics of that. Here are several of JIAs build threads on Ralph. New (to me) TLT Tuber Rebuilding Ralph Ralph Ver 2.5 Sadly most of the pics in those threads are gone. I have tried for years to get JIA to upload his pics right to this site, but he never does and they end up missing. Let this be a lesson to all of you. Here are a bunch more pics of Ralph from when it was in the hands of JIA. |

How has Ralph lasted through all of this you ask? Well I am sure a lot of you have seen this video, I am also sure a lot of you never knew what that crawler was, well this is Ralph. |

I received Ralph as a bare chassis, with all the other parts in a separate box. After a quick wrench session I was able to get him back together as a roller. Here are the pics as he sits today.

So, where do I go from here? Do I just put Ralph back together as it was and go beat on it? Some rigs like the old Hydro Scorp built about the same time as Ralph are meant to be restored and kept in their original condition. Other rigs like Griz's Guido are meant to be a lasting piece of RCC history and to evolve and grow stronger and never give up. I'll give you guys one guess what class you think Ralph fits into. Hmm, maybe I need to change his name to wRalph! |

The Return of Ralph, I love it! I think the Wraith components being used on Ralph is inspired! I can't think of another build that is more desearving of a resurrection! He's been built w/ a progression of components from the annals of crawling. TLT, WK, AX10(?), and now the latest and greatest offerings from Axial, the Wraith! Looking forward to the next great advertures of Ralph! |

Ralph is the reason I got interested in RC crawling!!! I came across a video of him as the crawler king on a F-body forum. I watched it, and then immediately went out and bought a wheely king the following day! I've never looked back! good to see he will now evolve into "wralph"!!! |

Wow I never really realized what a following the old man had, it's awesome! I am so excited to see Ralph compete with the Wraith. I'll be watching this for sure. When JIA sent me the link to the video I was worried but then he took everything that Z71 had and came out unharmed. Jason, Thanks for resurrecting my first ever tube buggy, I'm very proud of that he's in your hands and I'm waiting to see the final results. If there's any info you may need/want about the build let me know. |

What you have going there with the Axial Wraith axles is VERY cool though. Allot more scale and plenty of beef. Can't wait to see Ralph up and running again.

I met Ralph at the Augusta comp back in '07, tug-o-warred him to a draw. Glad to see he's in good hands, and the Wraith bits just bring more awesome. Way to go, J |
