I get to pick mine up today, and likely rip it all apart tomorrow.

Rad, enjoy! It's quite a bit of work to tear it all down, but I think it was worth it. The truck may have been just fine without doing that, but I'd rather not be wondering...

Plus detailing the scale parts is pretty fun.

And yep, my suspicion was correct. My pinion gear was spinning on the motor shaft. For some reason when I put a new battery in yesterday, it stopped slipping.

But once I put another new battery in today, I had zero drive. Annoying, but an easy fix. I didn't Loc-Tite the grub screw when I took the whole truck apart, because it was particularly difficult to get to. Well, it's getting Loc-Tited now.

Experimentation with a bug body has begun.

This is a Pro-Line bug body for the Slash. It's been cut into several pieces and attached to the cage. I used to have it mounted to my LMT, but now it just sits around. If I decide to do a bug body on this truck, this one will just be for fitting. I'll start over with a new clear body.

But I'm not sold on it. I usually love bug bodies. But in this case I prefer the stock body panels. Maybe paint & stickers will change my mind.

Oh, and that rear light bar, I did a CA glue job on mine to prevent losing my lenses. I glued the lens holders in. Then I separately glued the lenses into the lens holders.

Hopefully I won't be losing any of my lenses. They've held up so far.

In my opinion, the bug body is a great choice!

It reminds me of the extremely cool Glickenhaus Boot...

That bug body looks awesome on there. Slap some paddles on it and you have a Formula Off Road car! If you haven't seen them you have to check the out.

I am familiar with formula off-road as I enjoy watching it from time to time. And I'd definitely be painting the grill to match whatever other body is installed.

Maybe the mismatched grill & roof are why the body seems out of place to me still. Thanks for the encouragement either way. I'm usually a sucker for a bug body, but this one isn't doing it for me.

It reminds me of Blake Wilkey's trophy bug, which I also don't like the look of. It looks too long and wide to me. But at least I know there's options that can be made to work. The trick is finding a hood panel that fits around the roll cage, which this bug body does nicely.

Well I'm going to give it a shot then. One of my LHS' has the body in stock (Pro-Line PRO323862) so I'm going to pick it up later this afternoon. I already made a roof & tailgate panel to go along with the body.

Now I need to come up with a fun paint scheme...

I already have the old bug body all cut up and the mounting holes cut. Now I just need to transfer that info to the new body, cut it out and paint away!

The Bug Body fenders give it some great shape. It makes the rig look fun as hell... damn dude, your thread is giving me pocket fever.

Well Smog, the good news for your bank account is that the truck is out of stock again. That should at least temporarily save you some dough.

Well the bug body is done for now, and I quite like it. Maybe it's the paint, maybe the stickers. Maybe it was actually driving it with this body and seeing how cool it looks. I don't know, but I'm glad I went with this new bug body.

I wanted to be able to put the stock panels back on, which meant not painting the grill. So this bug body necessarily included some yellow.

My Vitavon stickers are in the hopes that someday, I'll have Vitavon axle housings under this truck.

Since there's lots of paint flying around on this truck, I decided I'd paint the wheels too. The hope is they'll look cool enough to help me resist buying aluminum wheels.

I prefer lightweight wheels, especially with this truck's meager electronics. I had already painted the wheels silver with Krylon Fusion Metallic Aluminum. Over that went some Tamiya TS Metallic Blue. When the blue scratches off it should show silver underneath.

I did the center caps in the same Krylon Fusion. And the beadlock hardware got chrome. The chrome is super soft paint, which probably won't last 5 minutes into the 1st battery. But it looks great at the moment!

For anyone who's been seeking a "chassis only" option for the Miller Motorsports, it seems RC4WD is giving you what you're after:

https://store.rc4wd.com/plastic-chas...ock-racer.html

And for $65? Seems like a hot deal to me. I remember paying over $100 to build a new Yeti roll cage.

Sold. I just ordered the cage and lexan panels. I'll have to see what it looks like in person, but my current idea is to swap my bomber into this cage. I'm expecting I'll need to make a custom skid to start.

If I go that route, I'll post updates in my bomber thread as I go. Thanks for pointing it out to me. I don't generally browse the rc4wd site.

A custom skid will be very needed, the Skid on the bottom of the miller is WIDE I think it's even wider than my Ryft Skid. I can grab you measurements if you need.

I'll have it soon, but you've made me curious about the width now. All the mounting holes are different so I'll wait until I get it to work on the new design. Wider is better than narrower imo since I want to maintain the geometry I've got on my Bomber. *edit* just confirmed I'm at 102mm wide with the current Bomber skid design

I've been a fan of Miller Motorsports for years now so I'm pretty excited to make a ripper worth this chassis.
