| Realistic Tranny?
I have searched the forums but found no answers. So..I figured I would ask. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to make a realistic transmition where the motor would attach to it at the front with a bellhousing or something. I know it would require a special chassis to mount it but thought it would be really cool to have SCALE rig not just in the size ratio. Maybe its not possible/practical. |

yup, tamiya did it with the hilux/blazer/bruiser/mounatineer trans. also people have made plates for the high lift trans so the motor is in front of the trans, still not all that scale looking of a trans though.

The high lift tranny is as close as you will get to a "realistic" transmission, unless you built one from scratch. The only thing I see wrong with a trans that looks more real is size, it would have to be made from very strong materials to offset the smaller size of the gears and case for that matter. The old Hi-lux,Bruiser, Mounty trans was all metal, had 3 speeds and the motor was mounted in the front (just like the Hi-lift) but used aluminum and brass gears and was prone to damage from moisture (brass shift collers would turn green and not shift any more). It can be done but you would have to make it yourself.

Not sure if we are allowed to actually post the picture (rcca got mad when people did in rcmt) But the worlds BESTEST rc truck builder, HINGE BOY Kevin H put a lil 380 motor in a hemi and made a t-case...now this was scale http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...il1998-134.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...il1998-135.jpg |

Wow, thanks guys for the info. I never knew something close ever existed. I agree size would be a HUGE issue if building a SCALE tranny. That article looks very interesting. I guess Ill stick with my pede or a rc4wd tranny. Thanks again. |
