Some of you may know or have heard of Dan the founder and man behind Blue Torch Fabworks. If not you can check out his stuff here http://www.bluetorchfab.com/store/

I have known Dan for several years and he is coming back to the Birmingham, Alabama area soon. SO we decieded that he will need something to crawl with other than his trick 1:1 rigs. We will have a comp area at his new shop in the future.

Look what came in the mail today! Huge thanks to Kevin at The Crawler Store!!! I orderd this stuff Sunday morning and it just arrived. I figured if I was going to build Dan a Edge then I would need one too."thumbsup"

Time to start building...

MattG 01-16-2008 03:08 PM

NICE! That tranny down there... Is that the one with the built in rear dig?

Yes its and R2 with disconnect.

RXcrawler 01-16-2008 03:22 PM

Here is what I'm using so far:

AX-10 Scorpion
TCS "Edge" Tuber
Losi Rockclaws
Mamba Max ESC
Hitec 5955 servo for steering
R2D trans with TCS servo plate
Integy V10 55T motor
RC4WD aluminum knuckles, C-hubs, rear axle and lock-out
TCS aluminum upper link mount/servo mount
TCS Boomerang for the rear
Axial aluminum shock bodies and drive shaft rings

Still undecieded on battery (some type of MaxAmps 3-cell lipo) and radio, I also may have forgot about something else too?

BOWTIE 01-16-2008 03:47 PM

looks lke they are going to be some great builds..

i went and dug this up but the pictures are gone.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...ight=bluetorch

i was wondering if it was ever finished.

RXcrawler 01-16-2008 05:38 PM

Got one set of axles done, I'd post a pic but I believe we have all seen them. And dial-up SUCKS.

RedBullRockIt 01-16-2008 05:44 PM

Tell Dan...don't come out west to RC Crawl...there's a little girl out here that makes guys like us look bad! :p

I'm stoked Dan'll have an RC...hopefully I can make it back to Birmingham and bring my Scorpion to play!

And FYI, BlueTorch is where we had our 1:1 Red Bull RockHer II built. They build some of the wildest rigs and parts in the country.

He'd take that as a challenge! LOL You have a build thread on that truck in your avatar? It looks bad@ss!!!!!

Yeah Dan builds some wicked stuff. Funny that I'm actually building him a rig??? I know he stays to busy to actually build it.

lunchbox 01-16-2008 06:09 PM

Maybe he will build you a Fusion in exchange... seems fair, right?

I've been looking at his axle trusses for my Jeep/Ranger project. Love his stuff.

run2jeepn 01-16-2008 07:59 PM

Wasn't he a Member on here a while back? I knwo someone from BTF was into RC Crawlers and even started a build thread on his own. BTF has a Rc Crawler Forum/Thread on there boards aswell.

The truck in my Avitar is actually a video game called 1NSANE. An amazing programmer known as Fat Alphie modelled the online version after the real version, including panels that tear off when you scrape against a wall. When the panel falls off, it reveals a VERY accurate full chassis underneath. Truly, one of the most accurate video game versions ever done of a real car...even down to the suspension geometry and performance as they can actually model roll center, CG, angle of incidence...the works. It was a full 3 months worth of programming. So detailed, you can even do front digs with it.

Here's a video on YouTube to give you an idea...

There was this thread http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...ghlight=Fusion

It wasn't Dan's build but it was a copy of a Fusion chassis. A very good one too. But yes he has been a member on here for several years.

Got a little more work done. Axles completely ready. And the R2D trans fits perfectly in the stock skid. I assembled the shock using the internal spring that came with the Edge hardware kit. I use the stock rubber shock spacer on top of the piston (under the cap) to set the ride height. If I don't go out of town tomorrow it will be finished this weekend.

Trimmy 01-17-2008 11:56 PM

It looks good. I cant wait to get mine together!!!

mrteelek 01-18-2008 12:20 AM

Very nice rig and waiting for complete rig

Bluetorch rigs are top notch, and this looks like it will be another one of em'. This is one heck of a rig though for just one weekend lol.

RXcrawler 01-18-2008 10:15 PM

I didn't get jack crap done on it today. I need to stop trying to surf the internet with dial-up it's kinda like digging a grave with a teaspoon.

Slow but steady right? Almost have it as a roller. Working on tires and beadlocks now. I'll eventually move the lower links to the inside of the inside frame. Next big thing is the servo linkage for the dig.

Can't wait to see what Dan comes up with for the panels!!!

Joey, it is looking bad ass. I want to thank the Crawler Store for helping out with this project. I am going to be making some official Blue Torch FabWorks wraps for this chassis that will be sold at the Crawler Store. As soon as I get this one to the shop I will bang out a couple designs. Looking good. I am ready to have some fun with it. I was looking at the old rc spot at our current shop yesterday wishing it was ready to bang. I guess I can wait a little longer to play. LOL

Thanks
Dan

509 Media 01-20-2008 01:38 PM

I thought I would drop a little message about something Joey Mention in an earlier thread. We are moving the shop to Birmingham, AL very soon. We are going to build a RC comp course at the shop. We are looking to open it up for comp use once a month. Once we get settled in I may be asking some of you to come over and help design and build it. We thought it would be cool to have the RC guys involved at the shop as well. What I am thinking is holdong a comp the first Satuday of each month.

The new shop is located in the downtown Birmingham area. I will post up the address after more of the contruction is completed to the building.

The radio is a DX3 and to my knowledge you can't buy one new anymore. But I think I may have found another one an Aggressor SRX. Thanks CSR.

Now if they would just build their self:roll:

Rockcrawler 01-22-2008 08:35 PM

WHATEVER!!!! I never though I'd be so busy not being at work. I'm putting together beadlocks and rockclaws as I type. Went by the LHS today to get some linkage for the dig servo setup. Got all the major parts of the second one built just need to bolt it all together. Hey Dan the battery I was thinking of using isn't going to fit.
