I think those wheels look a lot better with the thin outter rings, I'm thinking of getting them for my rig.

Looks great! But now it needs to get scratched up!

The method I've used to get matt finish on the outside. After painting the inside, remove the overspray film and spay the outside with clear satin paint from rattlecan. The paint I've used is "ACE 17014" but feel free to use other clear satin or matt paints.

The knots in the wood bed makes it so realistic. Very nice. Next time your girl complains, pillow fight!!!

Default She Finally Gets To Stretch Her Legs

I finally got to take my lil' Betty out for a run. Took her to Bear Mountain for her maiden voyage. The truck held up very well with the rear drive shaft popping out once (easy fix). That was my fault for not noticing the rears bind in a rock. Other than that i had a blast. The run time was exceptional. I took 3 stick packs 3300 and only used one.

You got it...it was in August edition of Xtreme RC Cars. My girl kept pushing me to send them in.

It was a surprise for both of us when i happen to see it in the magazine i had just purchased.

Its also coming out in the October issue of RC Driver. That was surprising as well for both of us.

Default cut fenders and future new body

I saw someone cut the front fenders off of the betty body and it was looking sweet!

I decided to do the same since the crease between the bumper/winch and the body was splitting due to the nose stands i keep doing in the house...lol

It works nice without any rubbing.

I also had my sis pick me up the jeep from newbrite at target so i can experiment with it. gonna install some LED's on it and maybe paint it up a bit as well as add fabric to the interior.

Poor sis...she picked up the jeep in the rain...the box was huge and she was traveling on foot...the box handles she made from tape broke half way home...the box was wet and falling apart...she barely made it. Then she kept apologizing for the condition it was in. She felt bad about it...until she saw me grab a screw driver, remove the body and toss the rest of the truck in the garbage.

Hope she is still talking to me

Sorry sis..should have told you i just wanted the body...lol

Right now its just resting on the chassis until i work on a way to mount it.

The Jeep body is OK. It looks tons better with the lexan Betty body.

The lexan body was an eye catcher at bear mountain...unfortunately it caught the eye of a dog as well, lol. no harm do...dog didnt feel like running on rocks...

Pretty much...the wheel wells' fit is what surprised me the most...The articulation will make it rub even sitting that high. Im thinking about switching to 1.9 rims and tires and possibly changing to TCS scal chassis...still thinking about it though.

Thanks! It was a great surprise to me to buy magazine and catch it in there. I didn't think it would get it.

I have a few ideas for the jeep body. I want to try and get suede on the seats and either felt or wood on the trunk bay area. at the moment im starting on lights. Also thinking about cutting doors and hood to add hindges.

Default Lower Center of Gravity

I decided to start applying the ideas ive seen on this site.

I cut and sanded some thick lexan to make speed controller and receiver mount on the triangled links.

This lowered them closer to the center of gravity by 1 1/2 inches.

While i was doing that i decided to lower the battery as well. Ive been thinking about it for some time now.

I tried on top of servo parallel to axel. this worked nice but was not cool to look at.

I tried placing in between the shocks extending towards the servo...but it always rubbed when the axels articulated.

I found a sweet spot right under the battery plate where the receiver and controller previously were.

I cut out another piece of lexan, cuts some openings for the battery straps and stuck on truck with some servo tape. This will prevent the battery from sliding into the spur gear.

This lowered the battery 1 inch closer to the center of gravity as well.

You'll get better performance if you move your batter forward and on top of the axle.

Default Dropped Betty with correct wheels

Body has been trimmed and lowered.

Great stickers...they cover up the previous mounting holes...lol

I'm putting the jeep idea on the backburner for now. Got to figure out paint scheme, detail ideas, mounting and 1.9 wheel/tire combo.
