| HBZ 2.2 Tube Chassis New for Axial I received this quite some time ago, and tested it thoroughly for HBZ. My first impression, bling! bling! to get yours:http://www.hbzusa.com/WARTHOG.htm Man the welds and polishing on this frame were flawless. The kit comes with two carbon fiber plates, for upper and lower link mounts. Panels made from lexan(paintable), and a very durable vinyl printed sticker sheet die-cut to match the panels. The chassis meets USRCCA dimension requirements for tube chassis design. it will be offered in two styles. Warthog Comp Designed Wheelbase: 12.5" Overall Deminsions: - Material 3/16" tube steel 1/8" solid steel. Weight 8 ounces Weld: Mig Finish: Duplex Chrome or Powdercoat. Warthog Pro Comp----> This is the version pictured Designed Wheelbase: 12.5" Overall Dimensions: - Material 3/16" Stainless steel, 1/8" solid stainless steel. Weight: 6.5 ounces Weld: Tig Finish: Hand Polished to perfection. taken from HBZ website.. My take on this kit? You get what you pay for. If you want something high quality that will last, go HBZ. They didnt spare any expense when designing and fabricating this work of art. The chassis is versatile as well. i plan on doing multiple builds using different axles so everyone on RCC can see the different applications of this capable chassis.(Poulson Axles, TLT Axles, Berg Axles). keep an eye out!! I pretty much built this rig, in this configuration to demonstrate just how effortless it is to put it together using factory ax10 hardware. One tip that i would definately recommend that you do as soon as you receive your Warthog....take the carbon fiber plates and sand the edges with 400 grit sandpaper, or whatever you have to smooth the edges. Then superglue around. This will keep the carbon fiber from splintering. This method has been working pretty good so far, considering Hawaii has some of the most treacherous terrain in the world(Lava rocks). i plan on posting more pics of my updated version soon. I saw an ad for the Warthog in a mag recently - I was wondering when someone was going to do a write-up. It certainly looks nice - I'm curious to see how well that finish holds up in the long run. Good pics. |

Does it make me a nerd that when I read 'warthog' I immediately pictured a scale replica of Halo's Warthog? It looks nice. What are the expected prices of the kits? Are the kits just the chassis and link plates, or does it come with hardware to help switch over from the OE chassis? Last, while the close-up pics are awesome, any chance we can get some shots from further away so we can get a better idea of the overall package? Thanks- |

190 for the comp, 209 for the pro comp. been looking at them for a few weeks and thinking of getting one. looks like a killer rig. i have one of HBZs cages on on my HPI Baja 5B Hooters build and its a very nicely done cage. just need to sell a few things b4 i gotz the cashish. from what it looks like its the cage, the cf pieces, the panels, sticker sheet, and some other items. i would think there are some bolts and zip ties for the body panels ect.. but im only guessing on this part. Nice write up. I think it should also be mentioned that this chassis was designed by Ryan Gerrish (Dorkstar Productions). One of my crawling buddies built one up for an RC Crawling demo that we did at a local 1:1 comp yesterday. I had a chance to thoroughly examine and test drive his Warthog. One word kept coming up as we watched this nasty little critter all day; Planted! The design is simple and clean, and it effectively turns an AX-10 into a comp rig in the time it takes to build it. The size of the chassis is sweet, and lends itself to tight lines and narrow off camber situations. Other than one nasty vertical climb, the Warthog hit every line that my Hustler Super, or his TCS Stick did. Here's the list of his running gear: HBZ Warthog Comp Axial Scorpion Guts with Stock Spur (no dig) Belly Plate Mod (lower links inside chassis) Integy 55T with Stock 14T Pinion Axial Rear Straight Axle Kit MIP CVD's Up Front Venom Aluminum Knuckles Pro Line 8 Shooters (3oz. bias all around) Panther Cougars with Double Memory Foams Castle Mamba Max and BEC Delrin Low CG Battery Tray IB1400 9 Cell or Thunder Power 3 Cell Lipo Futaba 3PK (Spektrum Equipped) Traxxas Shocks (30w all around 1/4 inch pre-load clip left rear) I came home from the demo, fired up the laptop, and clicked my way to hog heaven. I'm looking forward to the build. Last edited by CreepyCrawl; 07-21-2008 at 01:27 PM. Reason: Added Info |

Now I really need mine to show up! Ordered the flat black Comp...I prefer evil looking over bling, but I have to admit that is insanely gorgeous.
