I own a VF dig and it has worked great. I run the hitec 225mg on it. I did burn up one servo but it was my fault. Setup on it is critical to not burn up your servo and also make sure the dig enguages and disenguages correctly. Make sure you check all you end point adjustments on your radio before you attach the linkage to the dig(thats if you have them) . If you don't have proper throughs on it you will burn up your servo or it won't enguage or disenguage correctly . I also found that my dig is working better now than when I first set it up. I have never used any other of the digs mentioned but I really believe they will all work correctly if you take your time with setting up the linkage and servo throughs. Check then recheck

I dont understand how you can mount the servo on the rear axle, and then keep the linkage straight while axle is going up/down.

The servo arm has to pull the dig arm straight or it bind right ?

The R2D is an extremely strong transmission, but the slider output shaft rides on a bushing and gets sloppy rather quickly. You also must get a straight throw on the dig linkage or it will not disengage or reengage properly.

The DNA / VF has been pretty good. I bought both of my VF digs in the pre-order. Both needed work to make them work properly. It does add more weight up higher in the chassis though. I also highly recommend a full size servo instead of the micro servo. As with the R2D, a straight throw on the dig linkage is critical as well. Instead of a brass bushing like the R2D, it uses some type of plastic bushing for the output shaft to slide on. Both of my dig units were to tight and had to be sanded / filed for smoother movement. One had a bad drive cog right out of the box and the other had a bad internal out put shaft. After running one of the digs in multiple comps, the drive cog became loose. The small 3mm set screw was not enough to hold it into place. I ended up drilling and tapping both sides of the drive cog to 4mm and installed a set screw to each side.

I share this with you not to bash the company's but to inform you that nothing is perfect and both will need work to function properly. There are also a couple vendors working on new dig units. They are suppose to be stronger and more reliable.

Thank you for the input. I am researching digs for ax 10 and trying to figure out through experience which is reliable.

Seems the dig now is the dna one over others....,

Are the mods you made with the dna to 4mm, easy?

thanks for the help.

Yes, the mods are easy. You can buy a 4mm drill and tap at a hobby store. Then drill and tap the drive cog. It's much stronger and puts a set screw with a bigger surface area on the out drive.

I still say that one design is not the best. In the age of buy it now crawler parts, one size does not fit all no matter how hard any vendor may try.

I also had to mod my case for clearance and make my own servo mount for the Hitec 645MG.

Where do most mount a std size servo on the DNA setup ?

I can't see how mounting it on rear axle works because it moves up/down.
But I hear of people doing it .......

I run DNA digs on my rigs. The R2 is a decent setup, I just like the DNA setup better. When I was researching them a lot a few months ago, I found nothing but problems from people that bought the CKRC dig when it first came out. They may have corrected the flaws since then, I haven't checked into it any further. Most of the people that had bought them when they first came out to save money, ended up chunking them and buying either the DNA or R2D options.
