Mothers and a drill works great to shine them up after you strip the color off them. It only took me a few minutes to get mine nice and shinny.

for me i took it off because i have everything else black and silver and i really wanted everything to match it was this or spray paint |

Make sure and use thick rubber gloves when using either methods. Both are extremely acidic and will burn your hands. Yellow cleaning gloves are the best cheapest to use. If you use examination style gloves the rubber is too thin and the acid will easily eat it away.
