I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the ring and pinion.

The first picture looks to be a really heavy rig!!!! And not sure how far you are going to get with 6inch tires in a comp... But looks good so far!!!

The 6" tires make it look heavy, will they work? dont know yet, time will tell.

I like the axle-end reinforcement. May I ask how is it attached? Also would like to know how you will run your link/shock setup? Very interested in this build, and you are doing very good work so far

Thanks Gunnar,
The end reinforcements that you are referring to are actually axle widening spacers that increase the front width by 1.25", they will be attached with button head 3mm screws (I just haven't drilled them yet). I am using custom axle shafts and a special front locking diff so I needed a little extra room, the bonus was it gave me more space for the BTA steering and battery mount.
I am still working on the link and shock set up, Zero ackerman steering for you AX-10

Funny, I had two ideas as I was contemplating on how my front end was going to be on my build. At first, I really wanted BTA, but knew that shock and servo placement was going to be a problem. When I decided to build my 4 link mount, I changed back to front steering, but wanted max steering angles, so moving the shocks was my next problem. My first idea was to make up an offset lower mount. My second idea was to mount the shocks on the links, pretty much like your proposed set up, by running the shock end in-line with the link. I just didn't think it would be strong enough to survive a big tumble, and not move the shocks inboard enough, so I chose not to do that, by using larger hardware(8-32 on my lower links now) it would be fine, but I just took the easy way out. Great thinking on your part.

Here are a couple more pictures of the 4link system I am working on.
The upper link mount will be tied into the servo/battery plate with a bolt on top plate, the pic shows the mod.

Also I am not happy with my first mount I have made (to thin at the mounting holes) but it shows how I will mount the 4link.

Thanks much robert.

Here a a couple more pictures of my fist idea for a small TVP side mount R2 trans setup, ( just a thin prototype not final design) if i am not happy with the stock AX10 I will continue to work on it a bit more.
Also a shot of my composit link design and custom diff.

Thanks to all for the kind words and keeping me motivated, it seems like I have been working on this forever (snow ball effect).

And so it looks like I will be making my own frame after all, I just could not make the stock frame do what I wanted (adjustably and shock location) with out butchering it up. Now I am on version 1.07 and more than likely there will be a version 1.08 before I am satisfied with it.

The front 4-link is working out good so far, the only issue I have is with the front lower right link/motor clearance, (V1.08 TVP) I still have room to move the lower links around a bit and if I run a shorter out runner motor this should solve my clearance issue, (any one heard if Holmes Hobbies has the sensored out runner ready yet ?) thats all I have for now, back to work!

good ideas, who says people in 2.2 dont "build" it. Keep it up and looks like you may need a vendor star

Here is a link to a few more suspension and drive line pictures http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1717029&postcount=27, from now on I will try to keep all the info on this project on this thread instead of posting bits and pieces in other areas.
