you dont need a new motor, you need drag brake!!!

99% sure you can castle link your sidewinder and program it.

The sidewinder doesn't have a great drag brake but check the settings with a link. Getting a puller will help too.

you need to figure out what your drag brake is set to before you spend any money. It won't matter what motor you buy if your drag brake is set to 0.

i know my motor has nothing to do with my drag brake but i was looking to upgrade motor either way cause i dont get the same pop when trigger is pulled then released quickly. before i could pull and release trigger really fast and my rig would jump as if it was bout to take off, now if i do that nothing happens, i actually have to pull and hold trigger for it to take off.

i figured that this problem was a motor problem. what your opinion on that? also what motor would u suggest? still new to crawling so not sure what to look for..

sounds like you need to program the thottle curve on the ESC too.

again, 99% sure you can adjust that via castle link.

or, get a bigger pinion for more wheel speed?

Wrong. The Sidewinder has a completely programmable drag brake.

Lildjloop, hook up the Castle Link to your Sidewinder and you can set the drag brake on the "Basic" tab. Those Integy 55 motors have fairly weak magnets (compared to a motor like the Cobalt) and have difficulty holding the vehicle on steep inclines/declines. If it were me, I'd set the drag brake at 100% then test it out.

When I switched from a regular brushed motor to a Cobalt motor, I had to turn down my drag brake to about 60%...and it still jerks to a stop!

I'd check your lipo, sounds like it has a bad cell. You should have picked up some punch.

How long have you been running this motor? The brushes might need replacing.

As for a new motor.....you cant go wrong with the Holmes Hobbies 7T Cobalt Puller in a 2.2 crawler!!

if i was to upgrade motor would it be better if i went with a brushless motor? would i have to change any settings on my ESC if i did go brushless?

also where can i pick one of these Cobalt motors? Does RC Hobby carry them?

Nope....the only places (that I know of) that sell those Cobalt motors are Astro Flight and Holmes Hobbies.

Yes, if you add a brushless motor, you need to change the setting on your ESC to "brushless". However, those brushless motors will have WAY less drag than a brushed motor. The brushes are a major component in creating drag in the motor.
