you should have bought some 3mmx16 mm long set srew instead of using allthread. much easier to screw into links and rod ends since you can use an allen wrench to put them in

| Nah, all it takes is a couple of nuts and a piece of althread is easier to screw in than a set screw. Plus, the allthread can be any length I want it to be and I can use it for a lot more than connecting rod ends to links.

Cut the stock foams today. Also drilled holes in the rims, but tapped them to 3mm so I can plug them if I want to. I've read on here that Simple Green, WD-40, diesel fuel, etc can soften tires. Anyone have an opinion on which one works best? Will these soften the tires permanently or do you have to do it repeatedly? |

If you want more out of your tires, toss the lizards and get some rovers/panthers/losi tires... But yes wd/40 and diesel will soften the tire, but simple green just cleans them. |

| For crawling, you basically want your tires to grip the rocks as much as possible. One way to get that is to have tires with a soft compound that will really grip the rocks. The other way is to allow the tire to conform to the rocks, which is done in the RC world with foams like memory foam or by cutting the cheap foams like I did (in the 1:1 world, I let most of the air out of my tires to get this same result).

Just because I mentioned it before, here is a (semi-crappy, cellphone) pic of one of the 3mm bolts I used to plug the breather holes I drilled in my rims. I have an o-ring on it, but it actually created a seal before the bolt was screwed all the way in so the o-ring probably isn't necessary. Next time out, I'll run with and without these plugs in and see what works best for me. Last edited by rmb2485; 11-10-2009 at 07:41 PM. |

Picked up a four channel Traxxas radio and receiver. I'm not running in any comps, and for the terrain I wheel a dig probably won't be very helpful, so rear steer is coming up next. Not sure what I'll do with the fourth channel though. Maybe a two speed transmission??? |

That radio should get the job done. How are you going to have rear steer with out rear knuckles? I still think you need to get the center of your links more in board. That's a nice looking high lift in the group shot. |

Why don't you take your leaf sprung, 1.9" wheeled high lift and drive on out of my thread???

my leaf springs won't let me make it out of the thread. 4 wheel steer is for people who can't drive... Last edited by tgh117; 11-11-2009 at 03:18 PM. |

Lower links were binding on the chassis after inboarding them, so I inboarded the axle end of the links as well. |

Added rear steer, with stock knuckles and c's and a custom steering setup just using allthread and rod ends... |

new tires would help you so much more than you might realize. toss on some rovers or panther cougars for REAL cheap. have you weighted the front or rear wheels yet? and why would you plug your wheels vent hole? last thing you want, ever, is an aired up tire.....too much bounce |

You won't do anything, you will just keep running your truck and get worse and worse performance. Until you go and drink some Kool Aid, then the performance will improve. Oh and rear steer is against the rules.
