It's pretty easy. Once you split it open and look at everything it's pretty self explanatory. Just make sure all of you connections are positive to negative

I imagine I can purchase some bars, reconfigure the cells, solder them together and shrink wrap. I wonder if I could leave the leads on the final cell from the original stick pack?

Yes, you can use the leads from the final cells. For the 2 I've done, I actually used some 14AWG wire that I had laying around. I didn't have shrink wrap big enough either, so I used electrical tape.

Then I went LiPo, best thing I've ever done lol

YEah, I need to upgrade the electronics before that happens. In my other thread, I have made a battery tray to fit my stick pack that requires a total rearranging of my ax10.

I saw it. The 2 I split up where the same type. They JUST clear as saddle packs (with the factory servo location), so you'll be golden

I also used 2 screws/washers in the holes on the axle so I could use the Axial velcro straps.

Well, I guess I need to dive in and take a shot with building my batteries.

I'll jump in with possibily less than 2c worth here.
I have done a LOT of pack splitting in the past with my FE boats and a few prototype crawlers.
Once you get into pack splitting and building saddles packs etc it is easy and near addictive.
A good iron is the key.

I now have very little interest in Ni cells as lipo is my friend. FE boats need lipo and Crawlers like them. My basher-buggy is up next and then my Tx handsets will be the last to go lipo.

Splitting Ni packs is easy and kind of fun but running lipos is way more fun.

My battery pack is Chinese and the bars will not un-solder. I just put it back together and I'll order one.

What is a 2/3a?

What is the max mah that I can use foe a stock esc? I keep seeing 1500mah listed for the ax10, but I am using 3300mah?
Do I need Dean's connectors? or can I use the basic style plug (Tamiya?)?

Thoughts?

Addressed the welded bars in your other thread.

2/3a is a smaller cell, yours are sub c

The reason for the 1500 maH battery is because of size, 1500 seems to be just about perfect for shoehorning into a crawler.

The 1500 wont last as long... Can a stock esc handle a small lipo? Maybe a 2s?

trying to figure my best option.

Don't know what esc you have but you can run lipo on pretty much anything, just don't go over the manufacturers recommended voltage and always use a lipo alarm or cut-off.......that being said, using a lipo alarm and a bec I have run 3 and 4s lipos on a rooster and on a sidewinder. Just watch your temps and do NOT discharge your lipo too far. I have not had any problem doing this. Using a 2s you should be fine just using a lipo alarm, any more cells than that and you COULD burn up an esc.

You can get a lipo cut-off from novak. They come set up for 2s or for 3s. And don't forget a lipo charger.

Now ya tell me...

Will I need to wrap the individual cells if I put them side to side?
