Default Hitec is the one.

I am using the 225 mg as well. 29 bucks I think and only bought it because I fried the plastic one version.

Yes a mini is the best option but the mount is another 10 bucks... it's your call... buy a cheap full size servo and use the mount it comes with or buy the extra mount and a mini servo... I use the Hitec 225mg as well but I'm going for all out comp!

So VP dig with mini mount, HiTec HS-225MG, and is the Traxxas TQ3 radio and reciever going to do the job. I sure hope so as I don't see a new radio and reciever in the budget.

Many thanks to all...

I set up mine with the same traxxas tq3 radio ... the only drawback is you only have 2 positions for the 3rd channel ...either dig w/locked rear wheels ,or 4wd... the setup took me quite a bit of time to figure out but it works flawlessly ... btw i would go for the mini servo mount also... I used the large servo & it was EXTREMELY tight ... lemme know if you need any input

Yeh I am convinced on the mini servo. We are OK with locked or 4X4. What were the issues with the TQ3? Will we have the same issues?

Many thanks

There is a mod you can do to the TQ3 to make it a 3 position channel. Not sure where its posted but you could try searching for "TQ3 Mod" or something.

I am replacing the front servo on my AX10 with a HiTec 7950 and i'm installing a VP dig, would the stock servo that comes on the AX10 work fine with the dig?

You could even go for a micro servo. I run a futaba micro on my VP and and it shifts it with ease. Sorry I cannot recall the part number.

Yeah, this is what i was going to recommend to the OP. i just bought a hitec 7954 for the steering and will use the stock AS-2 for the VP dig.

In other words, if you are gonna buy a servo, spend the money on a good one and use it on the steer. Makes no sense to have the good servo on the dig and the cheapy on the steer.

Oh yeah, buy your son a CC BEC!!

Just my personal opinion here but I think that there are a lot more votes for the Vanquish over the Eritex due to the fact that they are more readily available and thus more people have had experience with them.

The Eritex dig is just as good as the VP IMO. The Eritex is also slightly more compact. I have 2 Eritex digs that work flawlessly.

Is there any way to use the hitec 7954 digital steering servo with an analog radio? Sure would be nice to purchase up from the get go rather than have to replace all the servo's when he goes to a 2.4 radio.
