| Losi 4 mounting minor mod options
I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas how to differently mount the top ends of the losi 4 inch shocks? I saw some were doing a mod by cutting the aluminum tips off and using traxxis rod ends. I am not prepared to go that far. Just want to use the existing shock tops and find a different plastic insert. Any ideas or custom mods?

Before I did the cut/rod end mod, I used long 3mm bolts and 1/2" sections of fuel tubing through the top of the shock. Put the tubing on the bolt, then the shock on the tubing. When you tighten the bolt down on the chassis, it will pooch the tubing out just a bit and will hold the shock while still allowing it to move a bit. I don't know if I have any pics, but if I find one I'll post it up for you. |

Here ya go! You may have to go bolt-washer-tubing-shock-washer-chassis to keep the tubing from creeping over the head of the bolt. |

The LCC/LNC uses a ball end with an offset post to mount them, it looks to work very well. I've saw several places selling those mounts for $9.99.

Use a ball end as stated...it doesn't have to be a Revo end. I used the balls from a regular traxxass rod end on my LCC. I used a small washer on a 3mm bolt and some fuel tubing as I wanted it to fit a tad tighter. Works well. |

| Thanks guys
Thanks all. I will look into all of this. I have also tried the fuel tube idea as well. I did not do it as well as you all have. I will also look into the ball idea.

I use the rubber grommets that came with the shocks on my RTC. They fit inside the losi top rather well. Very similar to fuel tubing idea.

To take another crack at this, I tried a plastic ball end off the stock parts of the RTC and they did not fit inside the losi shocks. Will try the revo ends tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas. I am all the sudden realizing it is my flipped shocks that might be binding! I have pretty good articulation but I was noticing some binding so now I get it.

I wanted to take one more shot at mounting the shocks the way they were before I started to cut on them. Here is how I have going with my shocks, it works pretty well... |

Great pic but what exactly did you do. I am running mine inverted and what I am finding is under hard twist the axle mounts are binding up a bit and limiting my travel. I know the tap drill etc trick would work but I am not sure I want to go that far into this. I might be trying the fuel tubing idea soon.

What Chassis are you running? SWX Chassis The parts for this are: 3x16mm screw (might be 20mm) nylock nut 5mm spacer Cone washer Fuel tubing (about 10mm) Cone washer Nylock nut A stock chassis is a little easier, just use fuel tubing: |

Thanks great scott. I purchased some fuel tubing today to give this a go. I also purchased some traxxis revo hallow balls so I will give this a go. I know the cut and drill is a cool mod but it involves tools I do not have.

| I haven't tried the Revo ball-ends, but e-hills4x4 knows his poop, so they are worth a try.

Old Hippie you are the man. Believe it or not I did do a search but only found my own old thread. This is exactly what I was looking for as I would have had to work pretty hard to find the tools to do the conversion to a rod end. Thanks a ton. As it stands tonight I actually did my own shade tree mod and it is working out ok. I will take a pic and post.

I am using the fuel tubing mod (thanks for making the thread at the same time I was going to ask ) and its working fine for now. I don't feel like hacking my nice shocks up just yet, to pretty to do it! I think for any old joe the fuel tubing would work for the time being, then if you cared to, you can get the other stuff. That adapter from JeepinDoug is nice |
