Definitely a nice piece. I got lucky enough to get a pre-production piece in my gubby paws.

Went out to the garage to do some cleaning, said screw that, and proceeded to make an even bigger mess.

Grabbed a chunk of delrin, stuck my endmill in the drill press, and when I was done I had this.

Weighing in at a scant 6 grams, its 3 grams lighter than the original.

On a more serious note, CHUD sent me a b-day present without even knowing it. Friday morning I found some new UGC goodness in my mailbox.

He sent me some lightweight FBII chassis panels in my favorite color.

The originals...

The lightweight version...

And while I had it apart, I put my skid on a diet too. I forgot to weigh it before though...but I think its down a quarter ounce or so.

Dunno, it isn't mine. I'm still a bit over 5 lbs, though I'm not on a serious hunt for weight reduction.

Also, the delrin d-mount is stronger than it looks. Bolted it on and ran a pack and it did just fine. This might actually be something to pursue....

Thank you sir. Not too bad for an old hack.

Here's the new chassis plates. Thank you Juan.

Here's how the delrin mount started its life...Yes, I'm still hand feeding parts into an endmill chucked up in a drill press.

And here it is installed.

I figured you would...Ashton too.

Talked to Dan last night on the tely-fone and told him what I did. Delrin may be an option for these. Got some testing to do though.

Also, I gave him all the feedback from my testers. The new run of mounts will be thinner, lighter, shorter, and not have the bevel on the rear edge of the uprights. He's also going to round off the pointy corner up top.

So its kind of a bittersweet day. zee Retour Rapide Deux is no longer mine.

However, I have raised about half the cash I need for my mill.

I just got some new stickers too.

Learned a lot from that build good luck with the mill......even bigger money pits than crawlers, but they can pay for them selves in the long run

I'm glad this thread helped you out.

The plan is to have the mill pay for itself and more. We'll see how that works out.

Mayhem Engineering will be the new producer of the D-Mount! There are a few tweaks to be made before they are available, but they will keep the same geometry as the OG version. This go-round includes a fourth mounting hole so that they can be installed upside down (minor modification will be necessary).

If you can't wait, UGC should still have a few of the original version available.

So... I've browsed the Mayhem Engineering site, no D-Mount to be found.
Care to share a link to get some ?
