Default Rear axle ring/pinion binding

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this before. Replaced the rear axle stock gears with underdrive gears and they keep binding. It's only in 1 spot as I spin it. I pulled the driveshaft off and didn't make a difference (just to make sure it wasn't anything to do with the driveshaft angle or tranny issue).

It seems like it's possible the pinion is riding up on the ring but there is nothing to keep the pinion in one spot.

Any ideas would be great!

Edit: should mention, didn't think it was a worn out bearing causing a bad angle as everything was buttery smooth before swapping them out.

Make sure you put the gasket back in...or a new one. Also make sure the inner bearing for the pinion shaft is pressed all the way in. It may seem like it's in, but you need to press real hard to get it seated properly.

Did you change locker, too, or keep the stock one?

Look at the case and see if the screws are hitting. I had this problem once.

there are many problems that could be:screws, bearings and as the mate said,it could be the gasket.check all of them, and if not sure, replace with new parts(bearings, gasket, screws)

Wondering if the diff housing is seated properly? during an assembly I had an issue once in which the ring gear had an undercut for the diff housing to seat into. Not paying attention i assembled unevenly and had a rub issue. Apon inspection i disassembled, reassembled and the issue went away once properly seated. i agree with everyone above as well. While there isnt a ton to a diff assembly, if you dont have everything seated properly you will bind something, somewhere.

Thanks all, I'll take another look. It was a quick assembly/dissasembly so I will have to check this gasket you speak of.

I didn't change the locker or anything, just simply replaced ring and pinion. I need to grease everything up good so I'll pull it apart again and report back.
