| Harvo's SuDu
This... is a SuDu Chassis. I built it because the 2.2S class at the comps I attend is almost as big as the pro class... and I needed a 2.2S truck. I'm a T1E Team Driver. Diehard! But there are only about 3 of the newer T1E 2.2S chassis is existence, and it was going to be a while before I could get one. I had been watching the SuDu threads and liked the size and geometry, so I ordered one with version 2 high clearance links. It shipped quickly and everything was a swap over from the old GC chassis. I had to fab up some steering because I wanted to get the servo and battery under the front link plate. What I made isn't perfect yet, but it works. I need some material to make it again, only stiffer. I also need a real tie rod, some new upper links, some VP knuckles, and some underdrive gears for the rear. What it is... SuDu Chassis Overdrive Gears in front Creation Fab premium splined tubes front and rear XR10 front shafts and 2 short side rear shafts. BRXL Some Random 35T motor until I get a new Brood 7955 Servo SLWs and some Rovers |

I will post more about it tomorrow, but yesterday it floored me with how it performed. In our comp, we ran the 2.2 pro course. Then for the sake of time, we removed a gate and changed another on that course for the 2.2S finals. I pointed out in pro. In 2.2S the truck finished with a great score and took the class win. I am extremely happy with this chassis, and I don't even have the really good steering parts on it yet. |

Looks great Harvo, rig has a nice stance. What are your plans for the front plate, CF? Im running my front axle nearly the same with a custom alu plate and debating if 1/8" is up for the task.

I don't think the 1/8 will hold up for long. I'd love to try cf, i just need to find someone that will cut me some.

Looks like a great start Harvo. Are you going to compete with it at ECC?

| Re: Harvo's SuDu
The second comp with the SuDu went well, but not as good as the first. I ended up in the finals in 2nd place. I made it farther than any one else up to that point and I was at the finish gate. Then it all blew apart I forgot to put screws in the lockouts on the premium tubes. The right side rear lockout popped off and the axle walked all the way out. I had the points, so I took the repair... slammed the axle back in with a press fist fit and pulled up the climb to the last gate. The front tires went through the gate and dropped off the ledge on the other side, and the front driveshaft slipped off the output. NO way NO how was that truck going to crest the climb in 2WD. In the effort, I hit a gate and pointed out. The chassis was awsome though. I still didn't have any added weight up front and it did everything very well. Just to see though, I added 2 brass rings up front for the next outing. About an ounce total. Also... I'd like to mention how great a guy Tomy is. He worked with me to come up with a CF front link/battery/servo mount like the one I made...only much better! Great stuff from a great vendor. |
