Phhh.. 45°'s, child's play! Lol.. try 65° with the right setup.. I limited mine back to around 60° tho, as goin past that starts to hinder. IMO.. Without limiting it to that, the outside tire would fold over an bind.

XR 50° on bottom, sporty(limited), 1.9 not limited..

Re: 5.10 The old school shafty

Sorry about the mini writeup guys. I'm working on it. I've taken many pictures to document my successes and failures...haha. Patience...
Beyond that, thanks for setting up the course at Sam Louis today Chris. I learned a lot about what my rig REALLY needs, verses upgrades that are needed ultimately (but can wait).
I hope we can both make it to the comp this month. It's going to be a scramble for me.
The mini needs a receiver which I'll likely order this week. If my Castle gets back from Arkansas in time (warranty work), it will be ready to go.
The sporty needs better steering and an esc with working brakes. The Goat you gave me got my rig running, but it's not really comp ready with hit and miss brakes.
With that being said, I'd like to go either way. I'll run what I got just to come in last place for the learning experience.
OR, by a small miracle, I'll actually have one, or both rigs working properly and come in last place....

chris.martell 08-01-2013 07:13 PM

Both rigs did well today. I dont feel one really had any more advantages over the other. Your rig side hills so nice dude, I've got yo get mine setup just a tad more suspension work to do yet.

Late night getting ready for the rausch creek comp in a couple weeks got all 4 of Sedonas shaved finally and narrowed the gmade wheels also.

Tomorrow I'll get the suspension tuned and my links cut down. Possibly might order some parts nothing major just some foams and some batteries or maybe a better servo.

I look forward to seeing this up at raush! It's looking real good so far! I have a 2.2s build session this coming Saturday night. I'm still not pushing to be ready for raush but I'd like to be able to test up there that Saturday.

I built this chassis for the 5:10 wanting to have a longer rear than front and not just by a few mm but by several mm. With that in mind here's my problem, as it sits right now im at 12 3/4 wheel base 12.5 is max. But if I shorten the rear I'll lose most of the extra length in the rear if I shorten the front I have to cut down my rpm cvd drive shaft, which id gladly do but I don't want to just to find my setup sucks and id regret cutting the drive shaft. Anyone have any experience with a similar setup?

Re: 5.10 The old school shafty

60/40 with a sporty means modding shafts. I'm a hair long on my build right now as well. I will not shorten the rear do to the same reason. From experience, I like the weight up front more. If all you have to do is shorten the front, your actually in good shape. Trying to find longer for the rear can be a challenge.

winnerone23 08-02-2013 05:20 PM

Couple pics of ur setup? Drive shafts, links grim the side.

Take a 1/8 out of the front an a 1/8 out of the rear?

What drive shafts?

chris.martell 08-02-2013 05:31 PM

Couple of posts up is a couple of pics one is from the side and you can see my links real nice. Its I peices right now or id post more. The drive shafts are rpm Cvd's or so I was told by the guy I purchased the rig from. I just cut 3/16 out of the front lowers and about to do the same to the uppers. I can shim that back just by adding different traxxas rod ends. Got to love those traxxas part:thumbup:

Yeah I saw them.. hard to get I'm close enough. They look like MIP drive shafts.. don't cut them! Lol..

what you can do is get a "ax-10 dig male shaft" like 16$.. I might have one too.. I'll have to look.

If you cut, its ruined. The female splines only go so far. If you push the shaft in any farther, it will actually spin free. Ur prolly only catching 3/16" of splines in ur female.

chris.martell 08-02-2013 06:12 PM

I just got done cutting a 1/4 off both sides! But good for me the are splined all the way down the female:eek:

As I sit at 12.5 wheel base my front links are 110mm long and my rear links are 122mm long not really what I was shooting for I wanted the rear to be around 130mm but oh well. I hope I works out cause if not I just ruined a perfectly good and fairly salty drive shaft. But no gain no reward. I'll post pictures of the setup after assembly. Any suggestions on how to sipp Sedonas, or should I just groove them and leave big pins and little pins.

It's too bad I didn't think of the Traxxas shafts winnerone23 suggested. I have some of those and even Pep Boys in York sells them...haha. You could have slapped one together and tossed in just to try out your setup before cutting the good one....too late now!

I knew about the traxxas shafts at pep boys and was going to get some today but after driving my rig last night at the park and on my stairs on my patio I dont regret it at all. Even tho my rear links ended up being shorter than I wanted 118.5mm vs the 135mm as planned my bias is still pretty decent with no weight once I get the electronics mounted to the plate ill fab today will put me real close to 60/40 naturally and ill just add enough weight to make it exact and to get more traction if needed. Once I clearance the axial Cvd's ill have decent enough steering for the comp on the 17th. Anyone have any proven methods on doing this or on a good sipping patterns for Sedonas. Every time I search both of these I get zero results. Not sure if theres nothing out there(find that hard to believe) or if its my Tapatalk app. Thanks in advance for any help

You already have them shaved.. just sip the stock lines..

chris.martell 08-03-2013 02:30 PM

Is that a half rover half Sedona? How hard 8s it to glue tire halves together? I was thinking about making some narrowed rovers like some I've seen here on rcc
