Things are looking up in here.. with crackhead and Chris on ur tail, you'll be rolling in no time!

When you tear that axle apart, make sure to do some dremel work to them uni's.. smooth the ears down on the ends at minimum.. I like goin all out tho..

LOL, it wasn't Chris's fault, he's been very helpful. And no, I didn't have the bottom ear clamped, dammit. Oh well, it sucks, but it's at least it was something fairly cheap as far as this hobby goes. I need my Wraith parts to hurry up, I need a good bash session, during which it will probably get broken.

Not to sound stupid, or call you stupid....

Were you trying to drive the "big" pin out, or the "small" pin?

It's of course the "small" pin that needs to come out first.

If that's what you were doing, then that's some sh-tty luck right there.......

My pins on all my universals drove out quite simply.

I didn't even have a good punch.

Just a piece of 2mm rod that I cut short and held with a needle nose, and they still came out.

Serious bummer.

The small pin, I know from MIP's over the years (and Chris) that's it's the small one that gets removed. These things weren't budging at all, no matter what, even tried a bit of heat with a torch thinking maybe they were put in with loctite, but no dice. I was using a hex key as a punch since it's tool steel, as all my punches that small are brass. My pins never moved, not even a little bit. Sh*t happens, and if I'm around, it's guaranteed. LOL

Very funny Troy! Here's a hint should be obvious.

Time to get back to this one...

Picked up some shaved unis, thanks Troy!

I cut down some button heads for the housings, as they were still a bit long for my taste when looking through the tube

Got the axle tangs to fit the spool after some massaging, and of course, a good coat of red 'n tacky

Gave the cut down bolts going into the breef tubes a good coat of this stuff (love the stick BTW!)

And put a dab of CA on each button head to secure them further

Tomorrow will be finishing the front axle, and tear down on the rear

Got the front end almost done tonight.

Rather than keep up with those tiny bushing axial likes to use in their knucks, I drilled mine out just a hair, and used these traxxas screws, voila no more bushings to keep up with

Got the knucks installed, and running a gear head RC plate for my servo and battery up front

Making the tie rod was what I dreaded most, but I'm happy with the outcome. Tie rod will sit well above centerline

That $15 tubing bender paid for itself tonight, steering arm bottoms out as the tie rod just touches the housing

That should do

Gotcha, so then shave the sides down pretty much flush with the sidewall or leave a little bit of lug for some side bite?

Gotcha, I'll shave 'em down then. I did my boggers last week, curved body scissors work great.

I use curved body scissors then a drum sander 80 grit to take the lugs down to the side wall then blend it all in with a wire wheel for the dremel.
