Default AX10 and Fastback 2 questions

I am new to the crawling scene, but not completely new to rc's. I have had a Rustler and a brushless Slash for a while.
I bought my son a Vaterra slick rock for Christmas for the lower speed and smaller size. I liked playing with it so much I bought deadbolt today. These things are addicting.

Now for the ax10 question. My buddy saw my two rigs and bought one from his buddy. It is a custom tube chassis with ax10 scorpion running gear. The chassis just doesn't seem right. It sits way to high and the socks are mounted way to far out. The tires hit the shocks when it articulates. I suggested that he just find a factory ax10 chassis or upgrade to the fastback 2. I have searched to find out if the factory length links will work or not. I haven't been able to figure that part out. All the builds I have seen are completely custom. Can someone tell me if the factory links from an ax10 scorpion will work on the fastback 2 or does he need to make all new links?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.

I would say the links will do just fine, just watch your axle pitch as you install the links on the chassis. Make sure your driveshafts arent binding. Different mounting points will determine your driveshaft pitch.

Unfortunately, he'll have to make new links. That chassis is a 60/40 chassis and the links are different lengths front and rear.

The recommended starting point for lowers is 4 1/4" front and 5 1/16" rear as per UCG's FBII thread in the vendor's section.

Cool, thanks. Here is a picture of the chassis he got. It has custom links on it already. I was hoping he could just buy the new chassis and some factory ax10 scorpion links to save the headache of making new links or trying to make the other ones work.
