Default Long skid or short skid?

If you had a choice between a long skid or a short skid, which would you choose? Does it have to be a certain length?

**EDIT** long being 2-3" short being less than 2" **EDIT**

Why?

Long or short compared to what, it's relative.

With regards to a skid, I think the width is more of the concern than the length.

Just short enough that it doesn't cause any drive shaft issues, but channeling it for long as possible links. Hope that helps.

I think a shorter one would help with breakover points. Less to drag.
