| My son wanted a different Deadbolt
Hey all, I thought I would post some photo's of my son's AX-10 Deadbolt. It has several of Bender's modifications (battery over the front axle, moved shock attachment points to lower CG, Black Comp springs, Axial metal servo horn, 55T motor, etc). He is a big fan of Spiderman so I bought a clear lexan Deadbolt body and did some painting. I freehanded a picture of a spider decal from the internet onto a piece of vinyl patch tape (the one's that every $15 blow up kid's pool has), cut it out with an x-acto knife and stuck it to the underside of the hood. For the spider web, I used a very thin tape (this was a real pita) I then painted the hood red. I did have some issues with "bleeding" even though the coats were thin...well, it was actually more of a tape sticking issue around the bends of the hood. I then peeled all the tape off and sprayed black. It's not perfect but I am pretty happy with it and it's my first time painting a lexan body. Of course, the most important thing is that my son absolutely loves it. Enjoy the pictures. |

That's a sweet looking AX10. I been on the fence of buying AX10 or SCX10 Deadbolt. I like the lowered look.I think you made up my mind |

It's a great little rig. Was surprised how well it did on the rocks. Except for the $13 worth of new springs and $14 for the metal servo horn, everything else just cost your time. | |

What kind of paint did you use and how did you lower it? Mine looks higher than yours.

I used Tamiya paint (in the spray can). Ordered a new clear lexan body so that I could spray the underside on it instead of painting over the orange. For the lower suspension, I flipped the links (as per benders mods) and got the comp axial springs (super soft) |

Search "benders mods". He gives a perfect walk through with lots of pictures. There's no way I could do a better job of explaining it |

Wow, that's an awesome looking spider man body. I just ordered a random crawler body for my AX10. I'm having issues with rubbing after doing a good bit of mods, and there isn't much more I can trim on the stock body. I think the imperfections in your paint scheme is what makes it IMHO. Looks awesome. I'm doing a military zombie killer scheme on my crawler body. Desert camo with stickers. I haven't painted a lexan body in a VERY long time, as I just got back into trucks and specifically Axial type with strait axles. Some of the mods I did: Moved battery up front Flipped spring mounts to lower stance Installed super soft shock springs installed 27T motor and 13T pinion Vanquish Stage 1 kit *waiting on axial universals for the front *waiting on RC4WD monster 2.2 beadlocks/ already have mudslinger to mount on them Futaba upgraded servo aluminum servo horn The only thing I'll do after all that is probably the Vanquish titanium links set. It's looking mean and performing awesome! |

I meant to ask, did you keep the stock pinion when you swapped the motor? How does it perform?
