Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

How are you powering those lights?

bilinvic 12-09-2015 01:38 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

From the RX. My BEC is set to around 8v (I can't remember exactly). The lights are rated 2S.

GLHS592 12-09-2015 01:48 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

Ok. So you can run 3s and power those lights as long as you have a BEC. Correct?

bilinvic 12-09-2015 01:53 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

Yes, the BEC is supplying the only power to RX. The red wire on the MMP is removed from the connector and the pin is covered with shrink wrap (not too tight so that it can be removed without cutting it off).

A few of my crawlers together to get a size comparison.

Have you thought about one of those Holmes bypasses? He has one now with an extra aux out so you could free up one or two spots on the RX and not have to cut and tape the power wire. I use them on all my builds, only $6.

bilinvic 12-09-2015 02:07 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

I have thought about it and maybe one day I will try them. I don't cut the wire/pin, I simply lift the tab and slide it out of the connector. Takes 2 seconds. I keep a supply of splitters (2/3/4) because they are so handy.

Damn, those are three badass rigs you got there. I love how you did that bug. I can't believe you actually own a rig with AR60s.

Thanxs....The Wroncho Bug did have VP AR60 axles, but they got moved over to the R1 Crawler and my Son inherited the Wroncho Bug.

Oh those were VP housings. I should've known. Those must have been version 1?

Correct.

fantastic build! Thanks for all your time and effort to do this, I am new to this but not RC 2 of my buddy's got the SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 for some scale trail driving, mostly leaving them stock But I like the looks of the Bomber, and the mods you have done to it. I would probably run it stock for now until I acquire the mods, I use Futaba so that would go in right a way. I want to be able to keep up with my buddy's pretty much stock SCX10 G6 with an pretty much stock bomber for now until upgrades are aquired. Any thoughts on something I should do immediately so these guys don't smoke me out in the trails?

The man himself, Randy Slawson commented "Impressive detail" on the Bomber FB page. That made my day!

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

Quad shocks up front now.....I had to adjust the custom pod lights mounts in order for the forward shock to have sufficient clearance, which turned out perfect, it tucked the pods tighter to the chassis, like the 1:1 machine.

Very nice. So quad shocks up front aren't too stiff?

bilinvic 12-10-2015 06:28 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

No, not at all mikebecher. They add a bit of dampening, but that's about it. The shock fluid is probably around 30w IIRC. I did tune the rear spring-less quad shocks to be stiffer though.

mikebecher 12-10-2015 06:32 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

All you need now is an electromagnetic linear steering actuator "thumbsup" to replace the servo as it's almost a perfect match for the 1:1.

bilinvic 12-10-2015 08:03 PM

Re: bilinvic's RR10 Bomber Build

I was thinking of converting the steering into a suicide set-up to mimic the 1:1. Would that mean my RR10's new name would be "Suicide Bomber"????
