I installed my 4 inch traxxas big bores with Jeepin Dougs springs set up. Soft springs in front, firm in rear. 40wt all 4 corners. It's a great (often overlooked) set-up. Handles real nice at speed, and has just the right amount articulation. |

I did some experimenting tonight with the shocks off of my old Xray 808. They are around 15-16mm bore if I remember correctly, they are huge on it. They actually fit and are super plush, my only issue is the spring rates in the front. Even with the softest spring I have they are a bit too firm so I need to see what my alternatives are, but if I can find a spring that is soft enough in the front they will have some great potential.

I have used Traxxas Big Bores in the past on my Wraith and SCX with great success. No leaks, smooth and predictable. I wish i could fit and have softer spring options low enough to use Losi 8 shocks having had multiple pairs on my Losi 8T with No leaks, smooth and took and insane amount of punishing. Now, i just got done rebuilding 2 of 4 of my 1st ever Kyosho Velvets. There is a reason the word "Velvet" is in there. Wholly cow these are butter smooth. I hope they live up to what i have read about them. I figure why not step up $$ and try what reads like the best shock out there. |

I'm using pro-spec rears all round, with a small spacer in the front to lower it so it sits level. The stock springs are too firm on the front, so I'm waiting for the spring set to arrive, also the rear is slightly too soft. They are the smoothest shocks I've used, I'm using 45wt oil in the rear, and 20wt in the front, haven't messed about with it a lot but to me it handles pretty well. Now just waiting for my sway bar to arrive to sort out the slight torque twist (UD heavy duty gears front and rear have helped) |
