AMF Racing Aluminum Axial RR10 Bomber Skid Plate

Wish there was one like this in stainless...Is there a contact for AMF to see if they can make one in stainless? Can't seem to find one searching the net.

Edit: Upon request, they now sell stainless skid plates.

Screamer mentioned this to barndog so hopefully he can make one in SS. BPC has had one in the works for a while now but I haven't seen or heard anything recent. I will check with bruce at BPC today or tomorrow about it.

Edit: AMF sells them on ebay, you can send them a message on there.

Looks like all the eBay sellers of this are RPP.

Would be cool if the sides could be tucked in between the skid plate and chassis for a more clean look.

BPC's will be a boat slider style like the one they make for the wraith.

I think stainless steel would be better for this - aluminium tends to burr and snag because it is soft - the stainless, though harder to form, would slide better and add weight low down where it is needed.

Received the following response from AMC:

"We have thought about making some of our stuff out of stainless. It would take more time and wear or our tooling. Plus the material is more money, driving the cost up. Thanks for asking! It is good to hear what people are interested in."

No go I guess....

I asked Barndog to look into making us a stainless skid also. Hopefully we have one soon. Aluminum makes an awful skid plate. It acts like Velcro on rocks.

Just found out BPC SS skid is still not ready.

Ive had some SS sheets layin around for a while now, thinkin its time to make my own.

I was going to say cost of material will prob be the issue, possibly more expensive than we want to pay. I don't think i'd pay $30 for something like this in stainless

The BPC stainless skid for the Wraith is $35 and worth every penny. Excellent coverage, well designed, and slides across rock like butter. $10 for an aluminum skid is more than I want to pay because it's worse than running nothing.

Went by lhs today, I will hopefully have an update on monday about the SS bomber skids from bruce. I tested a SS wraith skid on a bomber and you can definitely make it work, it would bolt to the side of the slider or you could cut some off, bend it up and bolt it to skid plate bolts like AMF does.

Good news for F9 owners, there is a SS skid available like the currie ones. It goes around the pinion like AMF and uses the tiny useless screws to hold it, then uses a flat head screw on the bottom and wraps up housing for protection. I'll find out how to contact this guy and get some pictures. They are $10 bucks.

Give me a part # for the plastic piece so I know what I'm looking for and I'll give it a stab. I can easily do the stainless required for that. I should pick up a kit now that they're available to mock up parts.

Honestly, you will probably need the skid and cage to figure out the bends and attachment locations. If you just want the cage and skid you can get this:

Or you can buy the aluminum one that's for sale for $20 and try to copy / improve it in stainless.

Ask and you shall receive. AMF just messaged me that they made some 22 ga. 304 stainless steel skid plates that can be purchased here. I just bought one. Seems like a reasonable price.

This is very interesting, any more info on this F9 skid yet?
