Considering the Bomber kit...

Hi,
I'm relatively new to hobby-grade RC vehicles, but I've done quite a bit of reading here. Suffice it to say, I'm giving my somewhat modded Everest 10 to my son, and I'm getting a Bomber kit for myself. We are starting a new hobby together. He's six and will probably be leaving me in the dust before long. He's been driving an Everest Volcano EPX that I got him last Christmas. These two Redcats are the limit of my RC experience. I've never used Lipos or brushless motors.

I would like my Bomber to be smooth and controllable. Speed is good, but secondary to crawling ability. Questions come to mind:

- Can I really get great crawling from a sensored brushless setup? If so, recommendations?

- Am I better off with, say, an HH Crawlmaster 13t/16t and XL-BR?

- Should I consider continuing to use the NiMH batteries I have--Hexfly 5 Ah, for example--or is it a "no-brainer" that I should go Lipo? (I will not be adding any modifications that are not related to performance--no cosmetic servo-driven equipment. I don't plan on going 4WS. I DO value run time, as my son has endless energy.)

- Starting with the Bomber kit (with its upgraded parts here and there), is there an upgrade, or upgrade package, that I still should really consider? (Steering seems to come up often.)

Not saying that it doesn't, but if cost didn't matter, what would you recommend, given my use preferences--motor, ESC, RX, TX, servo, battery? What would you recommend from a "bang-per-buck" standpoint?
