Default Browning out after yeti motor and esc install

Like the title states. Ever since I put in the yeti gear, when crawling I get brown outs. I lose motor but still have steering. I can haul all I want with no problems but as soon as I crawl about 2-3 minutes in it happens. I can usually just flip the power switch and it fixes it.

In new to this rc stuff and can't figure it out. I programmed the esc basically default. And I'm running a castle bec @ 6v. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is frustrating.

could be thermal overload from crawling with too tall of a gear ratio...what spur and pinion are you running?

That's not browning out. Browning out is when the internal BEC is overloaded and the rx cuts out. Everything dies until it comes back up.

Sounds kind thermal cut off, the yeti setup isn't really designed to get lugged around. Trying gearing down quite a bit.

What gearing would you recommend. Or should I stick to using this to bash around and run u4. Then run a dedicated crawler?

Being a longer can sensorless 2 pole, the Vanguard motor is not up for any crawling at all IMO. The stock esc will easily thermal after a couple minutes of crawling. That motor really needs to keep the rpms up to keep from cogging.

My bomber has the vanguard system, but its for bashing/rock racing only. I have 2 other dedicated trail rigs if i want to crawl.

Sounds like I'll stick with racing / bashing with this rig. And just use the scx for crawling. Anyone have a recommendation on getting the cg lower on this thing.

90mm front shocks and setup your rig to have some static sag aka how much the coilovers compress at ride height.

Also beef tubes/metal axles/aluminum beadlocks can help too. Try and keep rotational weight low.

Axial has an 11 tooth 32P 5mm pinion, it would let you crawl a little better with your setup. Might be worth a try. Obviously you could upsize your spur if you have space at the same time.

Had the same issue with mine. Would run fine as long as I kept it moving, but as soon as I would try to crawl within 3-4 minutes it'd shut down. Tried a fan and still not much better. I think the stock yeti ESC has the thermal limit set pretty low to prolong its life. I have since switched to a castle sidewinder 3 but it will still get hot and shuts down. I even have the UD gears in the axles and run an 11t pinion.

Going to swap in my tekin stuff and hope I don't see water ;)
