| How to get more flex
So well went in to local hobbie store today and well bought a axial scx10. I currently have a redcat and love it how it has rear steer and the awesome down and up travel. My question is how do i get the travel that my redcat has with my honcho shocks, more lift, or what im new to all of this so can somebody help me out

Well I got way more articulation out of mine by installing the shocks from an ax10. You could also remove the rubber bumpstops on the stock shocks for a bit more articulation. I teamed a set of droop ax10 shocks with proline 2.2 TSL SX's and it works great.

They kinda wear in, if you want more flex might have to go bigger than 100mm.

From my experience, and I have PLENTY, in flippin over, theres a couple things that it could be and width is only a small small part. 1) how high is your body mounted, the higher the better chance of flipping. I have mine LOW now keeping the center of gravity nice and happy 2) Where is your battery/electronics? Keep them up front and again LOW. I put my servo on the frame and dropped my battery tray down onto the crossmembers of the chassis. 3) Wheel weight. I like to run a decent amount of wheel weight, the more the better the flex but the more motor your gonna need and the more stress on parts. Keep the fronts weighted more than the back and itll climb better. I run 10oz up front and my stock Axial 27t is perfect with LiPo. 4) Tires, tires can make or break your performance. Wider tires seem to work best for me as I like em tall. Foam can also help keep you upright in a sidehill situation. 5) Shocks...believe it or not, the stock SCX10 shocks are pretty awesome. Ive swapped em out a couple times and ALWAYS go back to the stockers. Get rid of the rubber damper on the shaft while your at it. 6) Length...I like a little longer wheelbase. Go with the Honcho links or even a tad longer. I run mine around 12.5" or so. 7) Learn how to drive. This is the number one thing that will help you crawl better. It doesnt matter if you have the baddest rig on the rocks, its only as good as you are drivin it. They always say the best mod is to the nut behind the controller lol. Go have fun, everything that I said up there is either FREE or very very very cheap. Wheel weights can be fishin weights, frame servo mount using extra parts from the kit etc. The SCX10 is an amazing platform straight outta the box, so go make it work! Matt |
