Cheap and Easy upgrades

ok so i have a stock dingo, with a cherokee body on it and i was just wondering how i could get a little more travel out of the suspension, it isnt able to crawl like i would like and i dont want to put a ton into it, i just something i can get out every weekend and not have to worry whether the custom parts will hold or not any suggestions?

alright, after looking at that, i got a few ideas and did a few changes of my own, i re mounted the shocks in the front to the outside of the front axle knuckle, and the bottom of the forward portion of the shock hoop, it looks more scale and still adds lift, in the rear, all i did was use the holes between the shock hoop and bolted the shocks from the inside of the frame rails, this looks almost identical to a real cherokee (aside from the fact that they are coilovers) and add flex without rub

the u joints arent too out of whack either

i will post pics in a bit, this might accidentally turn into a build thread

ok, issue with the steering knuckles,

while the shocks might look better mounted on the front of the axle, the steering knuckles hit the screws so i might be putting a little more work into this than i had thought

front shocks moved forward of the axle, with ground steering linkages

rear inboard shocks, mounted ON frame rails

side view shows just how much lift it really gave it 1" total over stock height

retains full turning radius

need 2.2's if you want it to look right with the dingo body

shows exactly what was changed, KEEP IN MIND both front and rear are 4-linked, and 3linked setups may not operate in the same manner

you will need to grind out a small portion of the steering knuckles to keep from hitting the eyelets of the coilovers

THAT IS A HORRIBLE IDEA.

your rig will flip a lot easier now, the only thing you have gained high COG, bad drive shaft angles, bad link angles, and poor preformnce, and not to mention it looks stupid sittig that high.

you have not gained any more flex either, the only way to do that is longer shocks or lay your shocks flatter

thanks for your honesty, but actually the upper links are short enough that they countered the pinion angle, and as far as the higher cog, there has been no issue whatsoever, im not some newb who doesnt know what he's doing,im a thinker, as i stated in the beginning of the thread i wanted to do something without spending money, and its very similar to many other rigs if you paid maybe a little bit of attention

same setup in the rear as mine, only i only had to put in 2 bolts, not an new crossmember

maybe with 2.2 and alot of weight in each wheel you wont roll too much. but you really didnt gain much by doing that. maybe more room for the 2.2 but that is it. mine can flex like that or more with stock shocks and no extra parts added. in the side picture you posted with the jeep body your right rear wheel is still coming off the ground.




this pic of mine you can see all 4 wheels very well planted . that is with the axial 4 link in the rear and the 3 link in front. nothing special
