Default Traxxas 1/16 center driveshafts

I was looking around ebay for cheap traxxas driveshafts since i've read they are stonger than stock scx10s (I have now converted mine to a dual motor EVX-2 7 cell powered rig and I've blown up the rear driveshaft 4 times now) So when I was looking I saw the 1/16 scale center driveshaft. I wondered if anybody knows if its the same size as the diffs and trans.

These will go right on your metal Axial yokes:

TowerHobbies.com | 1953 Traxxas Long Truck 1/2 Shaft Pro Pak (6)

And these are the Traxxas metal yokes which are basically the same as the Axial ones:

That seems needlessly complicated since you can just buy the proper parts and basically bolt the Maxx shafts on, like I did. Best mod I have done towards reliability of my rig.

Here are the parts I ordered (The spur gear cover is not required obviously):

All you have to do is trim the shafts to length, and run a drill bit in the end of the yokes to make the inside round to match the Axial parts, I used a 3/16" bit as I did not have a metric 5mm bit (The Traxxas parts have flat spots where the hole goes through the shaft. You also have to change the spur gear because it was slightly touches. All details in my SCX10 thread link in my sig.

And also, don't bother with the TRX 1/16 shafts.

I guess thats "complicated" if you ride the short bus to school. Looks pretty easy to me and cheaper too because all you have to do is buy the new driveshafts and use the existing Axial parts that come with the truck.

Really? Short bus jokes? And I said "needlessly complicated", as in doing extra work for no benefit whatsoever. It just seems like a bit of added work to still have the inferior set screw design. Why wouldn't you just upgrade to the pin through design and use off the shelf parts? Why wouldn't you want to upgrade all of the known problem area's at the same time?

Edit: And to be fair, at the time that thread was made, the option I chose was not available parts wise. But with the parts available today, why would you go with that method?
