| Changing tires on new SCX10 glued wheels
Has anyone with the SCX10 RTR changed tires yet? If so, is there a way to save the tire/wheel from destruction in removing the tire?

I froze the tires and wheels on my micro, made the glue brittle and allowed me to pull the tire off the wheel.

So theoretically, because Axial has made this move away from beadlocked wheels and to these glued wheels...I'll have to always glue new tires to these wheels?! Maybe it's my inexperience in this, but I would assume after only a couple changes the wheels will pretty much be toast (add/removal of glue, biling, heating, freezing, solvents to remove residue...) I can't see these wheels lasting very long... |

I would just remove the tires and go buy some stock axial scx10 bead lock wheels. There great wheels and super strong. Are you trying to upgrade to a different tire and use the same wheel?? |

Buy some bead locks. I tried the oven thing. I read 375 for a few minutes. If I were to do it again I'd heat them to maybe 300 for 3-4 minutes and try to peel them off. I had to heat them a bit on both sides but they came right off. As long as you take them out before they start smoking you won't make the lady of the house mad by making her kitchen smell like burnt rubber. |

Man, I'd totally have to do any of those removal methods on the covert. My wife would freak if I used her kitchen like that. Lol. I find the tires on the new SCX10 crap in our wet BC terrain. Buying a set of original SCX10 beadlocks would be ideal - just they're really hard to find right now. Most vendors are out of stock, but if I could find some, I'd jump on it and just sell my stock wheels/tires. Otherwise I might opt for some other beadlocks. Guess no one has gotten to the point yet with the new SCX10 where tire removal is needed...once they do, there will be a huge surge of people buying aftermarket wheels to avoid the bake/boil nonsense... |

considering you can get a set of 1.9 rims for around 10 bucks its not the much just to chuck the old rims and buy new ones. also rims are quick to go on most scalers so it is a waste of money including an expensive set of bead-locks that people are just going to ditch anyway.

Looking for a good looking beadlock. Something really aggressive but works with my stock suspension setup. Trying to fit the biggest tire I can |

Isn't it great Axial went away with their beadlocks in favour of glue ons |

put them on a cookie sheet in the oven at 375* for about 10 minutes. pull out tire will push off the bead that is facing up, then flip the tires over and put them back in the oven for about 3 more minutes, the other bead will just push off. use oven mits!!! and if you have any moisture in the tire/foam it will steam up pretty good so watch out for that.

When I was racing nitro buggies I used to soak the glued bead in Acetone over night. It would fall out leaving the bead slot clean for the next tire. I don't know if these rims are made of the same material so be careful if you try this. |

I'm in victoria too. I run the Proline flat irons, they work really well around here wet or dry. One big thing that Probaly doesnt help your case is that the stock tires will have a complete foam. To simulate lower air pressure getting you more traction you've got to trim some foam out. Most people cut pie shaped pieces out the whole way round. Makes a huge difference. Adding weight to the wheels is another important one.
