Default K5 Almost Built Thread

Haven't seen too many K5's so I decided to slap one together. Nothing groundbreaking here just looking for a fun rig.

Usual suspects for specs so far:
axial axles
homemade stainless tube lower links
savage turnbuckles upper links
beef tubes front/rear
od/ud gears
hr chubs
sic machining rear lockouts
mip's
14/54 32p gearing
stock locked tranny so far
1.9 scx wheels
1.9 pitbull tires
dh fab stinger bumper I had layin around
mg200 rear bumper/tire carrier
cc bec
hk 13.5
hk 80a esc (decent and smooth esc but drag brake maxes at 30%?!)
turnigy 3s40c2200mah

So I called in sick today feeling a lil under the weather, had some time to slap this together before the bean gtg this weekend... yeah this wasn't the reason I stayed home

It crawls decently so far for not having weighted front tires. Kinda scalish bouncy too, looks cool. Definitely smaller, lighter and not as powerful as my 2spd pro4/mmp jeep. Change of pace..

Future upgrades will be mmp, cms and a servo winch.

Thanks and the tires are awesome for the short time I got to try em. Motor isn't great but not horrible either. For a lightweight rig like this, its about perfect. Not too happy with the drag brake on the esc tho. If it was a tad smaller esc with 100% drag I'd be content.

Thanks much Greg

That spur fits the axial spur holder

And yep the hk 80a is the hobbyking 80a sensored esc, if the drag could be programmed higher it'd be nice.

Hit up mg200, its all him Can't say a bad thing about it. Didn't wanna kill my departure angle with a sticky tire hanging on stuff with a normal tire carrier so I sent him a pic of a 1:1, its pretty much identical.

Much appreciated The blue was kinda spur of the moment while picking up stuff at the lhs, before I removed the masks it had already grown on me. Still working on body height vs. articulation, I generally prefer low slung bodies. It's a work in slow progress

After driving this thing for awhile and having too much fun, as well as trying a few different setups.. This setup has been in the longest. Also chassis mounted the servo this past weekend. Here's a small rundown of new stuff:

Tekin rs
Novak 17.5
cc bec
Hand Bros 3 link axle bracket
Bowtie fatbatt tray
Backyard Drunken Engineering panhard and chassis mount

Still alot to do. Fenderwells, servo winch and fairlead etc. WIP it is.

We all like pics, pardon my horrible phone ones though

And the required flex shot.

Thanks for checkin it out.

Looks killer with the changes!

Did you do the full on XR mod with beef toobs and axles or the one with just the c-hubs and knuckles. Amazing improvement.

Thanks and yes beef tubes, xr universals, xr/wraith knucks and chubs. At the very least beef tubes in front are a must IMO

Picked up a clod grill so thats next on the list...

What did you use to mount the Velcro for your body mount?
