| Good, reliable, AE-2 compatible Brushed Motor??
Mod, if this is out of place feel free to delete of course. What's a good, reliable brushed motor that I can plug straight into my AE-2? Something with some decent wheel speed as well as torque? I'm aware of the Holmes hobbies gear but they seem to be hard to come buy. Any suggestions? --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.946828,-104.771460 |

Holmes Hobbies... I am sold on them and I will never run any other motor. Their ESC just wasn't in the cards for me right now, but it will be in the future. If you want their motors I'd suggest just e-mailing them first to see how long the wait is. When I got my motor not too long ago they had just came back into stock. Some body is bound to have one though and if no one does, they wait wont be that long. Its certainly worth it. On a side note, I'm running a 35T. John recommended either his 27T or 35T for a trail rig. He said 27T was his most popular for trail applications. My 35T has enough wheel speed for everything I've hit so far, but I haven't dumped my truck into any bottomless mud pits yet. Muddy hill climbs, yes. The torque is good as well. Its got more than enough. It crawls really well. |

Yeah, the cheap can motor is a good bet. Fifteen bones, can't beat it. I'm running a hpi 35t can, a 55t and a 27t can and like all of them. I got an integy v12 and had nothing but issues.

I love my Tekin HD 35 turn motor, it's faster than a walk on 3S but when I need to go inverted and need drag brake my Axial is not going anywhere even at 90 degree angles ;) which is trail acceptable. |

Intigy actually makes a quality cheap motor. I ran their 45t in a 2speed heavy rig on 3s and 4s for a long time in all conditions. |

Integy Lathe Motor 35t is a good cheap motor. Depends on what you want more of, wheel speed or Low End Torque. IMO the 35t is the best of both worlds, with the right battery it has plenty of wheel speed and good torque. Also remember the cheaper the motor the less drag brake usually works. Stock Axial 27t drag brake is nothing compared to a HH Torque Master 35t. But then again the price range is a bit different. I would also consider where you are running the rig. If you plan to be in the dirty mud and crap trails.... just buy a cheap 20t or 27t Axial for 15 bucks and be done with it. If you plan to comp and get techinical with your driving get a good motor (HH TorqueMaster 35t)

Another +1 for the Holmes motors - the difference between even the low end Holmes and a cheapy is Huge IMO - I was running an inexpensive 55T, then picked a Holmes and I was shocked at the difference. More power, smoother, more torque, it's got me hooked on saving up for one of their torque master pro's and their esc - should hopefully have that on order by end of month. |

Help us help you! Did you like the speed and power or the stock 27t? If so get another 27t or 35t. I'd go with a Holmes motor its gonna run better across the bored. More speed, power and efficiency... Now if you don't wanna upgrade your trucks drivetrain and you mud a lot and don't clean and maintain your stuff get a cheap sealed can motor... |

The Novak 35t and 55t closed end bell motors are pretty cheap and work really good.

Integy 35 turn has been great for me. Lots of trail running and plenty of torque.

| Re: Good, reliable, AE-2 compatible Brushed Motor?? Integy 35 if money is tight, otherwise HH hands down . The Integys are hit and miss quality-wise though. I've had them last a whole season of heavy use, and also had one burn up after one day.

Not sure of the motor limit but i have seen some lower than this on this post. Try a Tamiya TZ motor. The T in TZ stands for torque and its a 23 turn motor. I've been running one for quite a bit now and its been good for me .

i run in a lot of mud and water, so i stay cheap, either stock axial 27t or a 21t titan for an emaxx, the 21t i think is awesome because its designed for 14.4 or 16.8 volts and on 2s its as sooth as butter, and can handle the mud.
