| Run times per various motors help!
ok i am curious about the run times ill be seeing to judge what motor i am going to get for my honcho. it currently has a 27t brushed motor installed and didnt know what run time ill see. so here are the motors in question. 1) Axial 27t motor 2) a 35t motor 3) a 45t motor 4) a 55t motor will be running a 4200mah 40c thunder power 2s lipo pack. i will mostly be trail running as well. thanks! |

I usually run 35turn motors. On one rig with a 35turn geared 14t pinion and 86 spur (stock Axial though some are 20t pinion) I used about 2,200 mah for 3 hours of trail running. This was on a racky area with lots af trails between the rocks. So a mixture of stopped, slow crawling, and high throttle hill runs. Not all crawling and not all speed. And I didn't run it the entire 3 hours non stop. But I didn't stop more then a few minutes at a time to take pics. This was with a 4,000 mah 30c lipo 2s. I measured the amount put back in when I charged it. On another rig I run a 27t motor with same setup and it draws roughly twice the power. So I can run just over an hour on that. With 45 turn and higher motors it will just increase the run time. I do not have figures on those as I do not run anything higher then 35turn. I would guesstimate another 25-30 percent run time each 10turn you go up? Gearing can play a big roll as well. The larger pinion you run the faster the truck will be but it will also lower your run time in most cases. Good luck |

I run a 27T in my stock honcho and get on average an 45min - 1 hour run on a 3300mah NIMH. I had a similar thing to Rook above me. we had a crawl meet and crawled for about 4hours with stop starts between maybe 15min breaks at the most and that was with the same 3300. maybe it’s just my driving style as I’m a pretty light on the throttle and use the torque from the motor to get the job done rather using loads of power and wheel spin. With that in mind using the battery you have suggested, i would guess, 27T = 1 hour, 35T maybe 1,5 hours? Don’t quote me on it, but that’s just a guess from my experience. hope that is of some help. Cheers T |

i run a 55t motor and with an 800mah battery i see about a 20 mins because they are 5-10yrs old. the higher the motor turn the longer run times you'll see because its drawing less power. |

I've got a lot of time on the Axial 27T in one of my scx's. Running 5000mah 3s lipo I've gotten over 3-4 hours of continuous runtime. This is mostly light duty trail running at a walking pace with some heavier throttle application for steep hills mixed in and a little slow and technical crawling also. With a 45T motor I've gotten 3 hours on a 2250mah 3s lipo in the same conditions. |

Keep in mind that you're severely limiting the wheel speed with that swap.. If you're O.K. with that good luck with it. I run a 45T in my Honcho geared 87/20 on 3s and am plenty happy... With your 2s though it'd be quite a bit slower.

You should get at least 2 hrs with your set up. On 2s I wouldn't go higher that 35T just to keep wheels speed. I run the stock 27T with 87/16 on 2s, and it has plenty of wheel speed for trail running and crawling. But too slow for any bashing. Run what you have for awhile, you may decide that your money is better spent elsewhere on your rig. |
