| My first kit - Dingo Defender
I wanted to say thanks to Federally, Mirage and all the others who answered questions. This is the first kit I've ever built and I'm really pleased with the results. I think I did a lot of things right the first time by doing a lot of research and taking advice from others (and reading tons of post in the Newbie area). FYI in the pics below I've tried to show where I stole the ideas from so if others like me are just starting out they know where to go look for info. Pretty much every question has been answered if you look here and on youtube. If not, there are people here who will help. In the future I plan on making my own CMS for the front, moving the drivetrain around, dual slider mounted lipos, fender wells and either get another wheel for the spare or more likely build a custom hard top. After being intimidated by the sheer magnitude of all the parts, I got it all organized and started building! Chassis done! 3Racing Winch mounted Body cut and marked Body painted and light buckets installed (lights are based on what Mirage did). I'm pleased since this is the first body I've ever painted. Here's the way to get shoo goo where you want it! This was a last minute inspiration...my wife had a box of these she had used to give a cat some medicine. Decided to use hotglue to hold the wires in place - works awesome! (from the paint/body section) Everything installed and a custom bracket made for the front body mount (old pc part) - Stole this idea from Federally Waterproofing (learned this via a how to on youtube) Building custom links (info from thread in the tips/tricks area) Rear 4-Linked |

Great work!!! Body looks fantastic!!! I think I'm going to get my first kit this fall. Not sure what, I've got the Honcho so probably not a Dingo...but maybe a Wraith. Nevermind that, though. Kudos on your first successful build! |

Your Dingo looks great. I am working on finishing up my Dingo. What light set did you use on yours? That is my next step. I am working on making my own headlight surround and grill out of styrene. FJ40Steve Las Vegas, NV Axial Dingo Tamiya CC01 Land Cruiser |

Digging the black on white, nice and clean looking. How is the winch? I almost bought a bulldog the other day, but am kinda hesitant, the winches seem to be getting mixed reviews...

Here are the links I promised: lights - You pick it, we make it! winch - 3Racing Automatic Crawler Winch (1/10 Size) winch controller made by heyok for 2position 3rd channel: Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel FYI I'm loving the winch and heyok's controller...both work great! Light bucket set (Mirage hooked me up with this link): http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXYWV9&P=7 Here are the lens paints Mirage used in his build which can be found here: Mirage's Dingo Kit http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRS15&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRS16&P=7 I just used a red sharpie but at some point will probably go back over the lenses with the paint he used. Here's the topic on making your own links: How To: Make your own links I used 8/32 all thread, 1/4id brake line and traxxas jato rod ends. Last edited by BubbaEinstein; 04-29-2012 at 09:30 AM. |

Looks like you really did your home work unlike many on here. The rig turned out great. I like the black/white and those wheels set it off |
