Default Narrowing front Wraith Axle for front of scx10

Just wondering if it would be possible to shorten a wraith front axle to the same width of a scx10 rear axle. Then use the wraith axle up front in a scx10.

Would it give a better turning circle? Also I think it would look more scale with a off center axle pumpkin up front.

Looked at the XR10 steer mod with C hubs, knuckles and shortened cvd axles but the price for these parts seem to be double what standard alloy scx10 parts. So why not try something different.

Thoughts?

the housing wouldnt be an issue but the shafts would be that would be your weak point, the axles would have to be welded and heat treated or sleeved or something, i think its possible but iv never seen it done, if u do manage to pull it off to a tutorial so other people can fallow in your foot steps, like..... i dont know , me? lol

No worries mate.

I was thinking of cutting the splined end off the housing. Cut housing shorter whats needed then cemi wield brass tube inside each axle housing so its sticking out enough to take the spline section for the c hubs.

Ill be using Egressor non slop lockers and I was thinking of cutting the standard wraith universal shafts down and grinding a flat edge on the end to slip into the locker and tightened up. I think this would remain fairly strong.

narrow the long side to match the short side then use 2 short axles. you may need wideners after but it would be the easiest way.

He's going for the offset pumpkin look.

actually he never specifically said that just that it would look more scale. but i am sure some things can be sacrificed for convenience.

Your right I didn't actually say that. I meant the offset pumpkin would look more scale.

I dont see why cut down cvd shafts would be any weaker.

Cheers

No worries. No harm done, I just wanted to warn you before the higher-ups got to it. I have done the same thing.

Couldn't you buy 4 axle sets, take the short tube off of 2 of them then take the long tube off of the other 2 put the short tubes on the half axles with the short tubes attached to the pumpkin, and then put the scx10 internals into the short axles?

just a though

Scratch that. Just shorten the long half, put some brass tubing in for support and use the scx10 axle internals. Wouldn't that work?
