Default Bigjon's Wroncho project

About a month ago I decided I wanted to build a SCX10 hybrid. I decided that I was going to do it about a week later. Found a kit Wraith and a Honcho for a price and condition I was happy with. So I ordered the hand brothers cms kit for the Honcho and a vp panhard kit for the Wraith. Got them all torn down and axles mocked up with 4link for the moment. It has 155mm rear and 125mm front for a little shy of 13.5"wb. I am looking for a bit of advice because either I need to shorten the rear and lengthen the front or get a longer drive shaft for the rear. Tell me what yall think thanx guys.

P.S. I am going to try and get pics of it up tonight.

You need to get or make the rear driveshaft longer. Mine has the mip shafts, and I found a longer male side.

I was thinking of getting the mips eventually I want the whole drive train to be bullet proof. You.wouldn't happen to have a part number for the longer male section? Or a vehicle type?

Just ordered that mip longer male shaft and a Wraith drive shaft set. So I am going to wait till they come in to make my threaded rod links for the rear. I am still mulling around the idea of three linking the rear to clear the drive shaft. Just don't know how to make the body panhard mount for the rear.

@2FAT
I am open to any suggestions on my shock setup.

Have you flipped the shock mounts on your axles? I can't see in your pics.

@2FAT
I wish I could take credit for making the body and all but I got the SCX10 that way. Keep me posted on how the slash front shocks work out for you.

@Tony
Yes they are flipped to help lower the cog.

I just also did this. My forum is "79' ford wroncho". I was wondering if you are having the same problem...so your running wraith shocks ? Well I'm runnin stock Scx-10 ones right now and the shocks are to short. My axles are turned down kinda sorta. Just wondering if you had the same problem.....

I am kind of having a problem with understanding what you are asking. But sounds like the lengths of your links need to be recalculated. Either the lower link needs to be shortened orthe upper links need to be lengthened.

The way my links are is how I want it. But because of the shortness off the shocks it pulls the back of the axle up and make the diff cover kinda point down. Mainly what I'm asking here is how long are the shocks your running?

I have the stock Wraith shocks on it now. I can measure the length when I get home if you need me to? Dont know how they work as it is not at a point that i can run it. Has no drive line and the links are 1/8 wood so they slide in and out of the rod ends. Hopfully I will have it drivable this weekend because the mip's will be here on thursday. And still need to think of something for a body panhard mount for the rear. I just want it bolt on as i dont want to cut up the frame. No one manufactures anything for the rear yet.

Your shocks don't adjust your pinion angle...or the way the axle is rotated. Like Jon said...you'll need to either shorten your uppers or lengthen your lowers. One of these will rotate the axle back so that the diff cover is pointing straight ahead.

Jon...your rig is looking good! If you end up needing shorter shocks keep in mind we can get the Proline Powerstroke shocks for you...the Scaler version or the front/rear Slash shocks as well.

I found that out last night. Haha. I think ima get 100mm shocks instead of the 95mm. Just to give it a little bit of ride height.

Thanx Ryan I might do that I am going to play around with my setup and decide what I am going to do. Just need to get it to a drive-able so I can adjust.

Here is a pic with the two 4mm threaded rod lower links. Would of had the whole front done if my dremel battery had not died. Think I need to pull the front axle back 5 mm or more. I also need to find some good scale 2.2 rims.
