Default XR10 Axle Mod

Gday,
I am doing the xr10 axle mod to my scx10. I have bought XR10 knuckles, chubs and creation fab wide delrin tubes for the front. I was reading that the xr10 is thinner in the rear and i do not want my scx10 to be thinner in the rear. So what lockouts and axle shafts will I need to use to make the rear the same width as the front. Also my scx10 is powered by a Pro4 so the axle shafts will have to be strong.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I have had the same question, also will this mod make axles wider or more narrow?

If you are running the wide tubes, it moves the knuckles and C-hubs out, hence the need to run the longer XR10 front axle shafts.
I've seen these shafts hold up to some abuse, but they do wear out over time. I run them, with biggins steel wide beef tubes and a 3900kv 4-pole brushless motor. They've held up to FOFF abuse and now are in my wraith with Pitbull V1 tires.

For the rear, I have some bad news.. You're going to need another set of wide tubes.
You do the same modification to the rear axle, as the front.. Use the SCX10 rear lockouts, and purchase two packages/sets of rear XR10 axles. You need the long side shaft from each set.
This makes the axles VERY close in width. To make up the difference, I use different hubs in the front and rear for my VP wheels. Wider offset in the rear than the front.
Again, these axles are steel and should hold up to the pro4 power. Unless you do soemthing really silly.
There are some vendors here on RCC that sell axle shafts. You could work a deal with one of them for something stronger, or you could use a grinder to make your own drive flats.

One thing to keep in mind, you do need to purchase some clamping style lockers. Not only is this a must because of the pro4 motor, but to keep everything together and in the housings..

Good luck. Hope this helps.

for the rear just use hex extenders or wider hubs, doesn't really matter on the back since it does not need to turn.
