Default Project "Big Blue" 1979 F150 Supercab

Started with a stock dingo kit, running:

-HH brxl
-Hobbico cs170 servo
-Futaba 4pl
-Brood 40t motor
-Vanquish Products dig "backwards" to have 2wd/4wd
-3racing 1/10 winch
-cc bec
-rc4wd cms kit
-2s, 3s, or 4s is what I usually ran

Picture:
(seems to be the only one I have of it)

Now my goal is to turn it into an awesome trail rig, something more scale than the dingo yet still capable.

Other things I am planning to add are:
-1.9 pitbulls rapped around rc4wd pro10 rims
-mip driveshafts for the wraith (a must because of how long the wheelbase is)
-ajs machine trailer hitch
-vanquish lockers
-RRP idler gear and diff gear
-and a new power system, not sure yet thinking about the pr04 3300 and a mmp

For the body I decide to go with a HPI Ford F150 Supercab body meant for the savage xl. Painted it up and ended up with this.

I hope to regularly update this build starting on the body first with a full interior and working lights.

Thanks

Great job on the paint job and choice of colors

How do you like that 40 turn motor with the brxl?

Thanks, yours looks great. I went with the supercab because after running the dingo with a short wheelbase I wanted to try out something a bit longer, but it was defiantly a suprise to find out the wheelbase went from 11.4" to 14.3" The extended frame alone is over 20" (oops spoiled a new post...lol)

Thanks, I think it looks really good on all trucks.

Thanks, the 40t with 3s or 4s was really good in the short wheelbase, smaller tire dingo. Sadly it was an older motor from my xr-10 and it didn't last very long in the dingo (it had a lot of hours in the xr). The brxl is... simply amazing, I have the waterproof version and have submerged it many times. It always works perfect and runs any motor very smooth. And JRH is very helpful

Thanks man, actually, I'm at 12.1" for a wheelbase. It was the wb I had for my Silverado and I just threw the F-150 body on there to see what it would look like before I switched to the shorter wb, but the wheels lined up pretty much perfect so I left it alone lol.

Nice, that makes it a little easier to match up

Getting started on the extended frame for it, got a rear section from someone doing a truggy, cut it down and so far have it attached using the battery plate and cross members.

Had to move the trans back. First so I dont need such a long rear driveshaft, and secondly so i can fit the receiver box back in its original spot while running the vp dig "backwards" for 2wd/4wd. To do this I cut the two little knobs on each side of the skid plate, allowing me to move it back a hole in the chassis.

And to top it all off I trimmed/sanded off the bars on the front bumper and I sanded down the hook mounts in the bumper.

Now on to the interior. Started with the firewall and floor. Needed to cut some spots out for the transmission.

Starting to cover up some of the holes. And making the front bench seat.

Nice work so far! The supercab ford is currently my favorite body and its tempting to build a new truck just to use it! Ill be keeping an eye on this one

Thanks, I too think it is a great looking body. Too bad it is not more easily adapted to the scx or any other truck out their, it's so stinkin' long

An update on the interior. Pics should explain it all, I will try my best to put them in order.

Nothing starts the morning off better than coffee and styrene cement... yum

Getting the back half started.

Adding the seat back.

Trying a different way to cover up the spur.

More to come in a hour or so.

For the interior I am not planning to copy a 1979 to the "t" because the truck I am getting my inspiration from has a upgraded more modern interior to it anyways, link http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gall...=43258&width=0 scroll through the pictures in the link to find pics of the interior. For those with lazy clicking syndrome here is a pic of just the outside.

Got some more work done on the interior. Cup holders, working on the dash and some sort of tray.
