| Dingo to FJ40
Just about finished building my first SCX10 (Dingo) and have a new Tamiya FJ40 shell waiting for it. Unfortunately the Dingo's wheelbase is way longer than a '40s. Any ideas on how to shorten it up minus major surgery?

Make some shorter links. Get yourself some all thread and break line. |

Shorter links and probably shorter drive shafts as well. If you don't have a lot of parts around to experiment with, you can start with some all thread as mentioned. just play with lengths until you get it to the right wheelbase. The lowers are most important for wheelbase, the uppers are most important for adjusting the pinion angle (where the driveshaft comes out of the axle). Once you've got the wheelbase done, put the drive shafts back in and see if they fit. Stock Axial shafts usually have a few different lengths provided. You can always start cutting if they're still too long. You can dress up the all thread with brake line or plastic tubing, or you can buy real ones once you find the right size. Axial makes a few lengths, RC4WD makes a lot more. Last edited by pottymouth; 10-07-2012 at 05:17 PM. |

The Proline FJ40 will fit the dingo wheelbase but has been discounted and can be hard to find. I have one that I was going to use but it did not fit with the proline floor pan so I went a different route, I have it for sale PM me if your interested.
