You won't need the gasket.

Spool, AKA locker. The locker is a solid piece that holds the ring gear and axle shafts. It "locks" the two axles in an axle housing in drive full time. As compared to a differential gear setup where each tire on the axle spins independent of one another.

In crawling you want both front and rear axles locked for best capability.

I have found that in most cases, the gasket is only needed for when using the actual differential spider gears. I have had to use the gasket in one or two cases with a locker where it didnt seem like the ring gear was sitting flush on the locker. It's just a test fit thing sometimes.

That's a great little tip. Never thought of that.

The spider gears really won't even turn or are super grindy without the gasket. Difference a little piece of paper makes.

Ok, so i removed the gasket..
Now the spool wont sit flush with the ring gear, anybody had that problem? Seems like the center hole is too small for the spool.. so now it just "wobbles" around..

Wanna check here before i contact rpphobby.

EDIT; Seems like Szczerba already answered my question, seems like i need the gasket in this case, cant remeber beeing a problem when i mounted them up with the gasket on..

What brand spools are you using? Locked up had an issue with their tolerances that caused the gear to not sit flush. They have a "how to" somewhere on here that shows how to remedy the issue.

I have FI spools in 2 rigs and a BMRC one in the yeti. The Blue Monkey is a little smoother and has a tiny bit more thread engagment. I did have an issue with one FI spool's theads but Locked Up replaced it no questions asked.

That little paper gasket made it "that much" too wide for my Holmes Hobbies spools and associated bearings to fit properly in their axle housing cradle.

I have a thread about it somewhere called "Tell me about spool lockers". Good info and pics there.
