Default Quick ? On Robinson Racing Trans Gear's Install

Installing R.R. 1541 & 1542 idle gear and 1pc diff locker gear.

Am I supposed to just use a standard set screw to attach the drive shafts to the 1542?

The OEM gear has a hole all the way through each output shaft and the OEM set screw acts as a pin going all the way through. The new R.R gear has a flat side for a set screw (no hole for pin style screw)... ?

Any other pertinent advise I should follow while Im in here?

Thanks!

Nope you use a short set screw. The output would be weakened if they would have pit hole through it.

You can use a set screw on each side.
I think RR makes a Wraith output that has the holes.

What size are the set screws that are needed? Just ordered those gears and mip driveshafts and would like to have the set/grub screws when i get them so i can get right back to using it

They use m4 size screws. They should come with grub screws though.

I picked up a set of MIP's also, but I think Im just going to run the stock OEM shafts until they break before I install the MIP's...

I used an HPI 4 mm pin style...fit nicely
Traxxas make one also.

Thought I would update this info in case anyone else may be interested... not sure if it's a design change with the new 2012 SCX10 Rubicon, but my driveshafts use 3mm diameter set screws!

Great suggestion, I followed the advice.
I ended up using 3mm X 5mm to reach the "flat" on the gear, and 3mm X 3mm on the other side (without "flat") along with blue threadlock
