I don't have it in a SCX10 but have it in a Wraith. There it is a blast. Very fast and still crawls very well. The only limitation for the crawling ability is the limited drag brake I can use to prevent sudden stops when I release the trigger at high speed. The motor did not get hot even at slow crawling hill climbs. I'm using stock Wraith gears.

What is the reason for you to put in that 10.5t? Speed with the ability to crawl? I would say you wouldn't be disappointed. How fast do you want it? My Wraith is crazy fast with that motor. Maybe a 13.5t would be the better choice. I think Harley have one in his SCX10 Jeep Rubicon. Maybe he can say more about it.

You should get it just to have it even if you don't use it all the time. Never know when you need speed for bashing on a trail

Kinda close but here is a 13.5 Redline with Mamba Max Pro. 21/87 gearing. It crawls great and has pep too. I wish I could get a 22 or 23 pinion on but I would have to trim the motor plate.

Two videos show the differences.
I figure the 10.5 with the pinion gears you are referring too will get you close in the gearing department. And for $20, I would get that motor.
