Default SCX10 Dingo bullet proof transmission

This is the first project to upgrade my SCX10 dingo - I'm going to build a bullet proof transmission. These are parts I just ordered last night:

1. Hot Racing Aluminum Transmission Casing Upgrade for AX10 SCX10 Crawler Rock

2. Robinson Racing Axial Scorpion Crawler Outdrive Diff Lock Gear Ax10 RRP1542

3. Robinson Racing Hard Steel Idler Gear AX10

4. Robinson Racing Slipper Unit 88T Steel Spur Gear AX10

5. WRAITH & AX-10 BEEFY TOP SHAFT

6. L3 AXIAL SCX10 DUAL MOTOR MOUNT

I will submit more photos as soon as everything coming.

These are additional parts to upgrade drive shafts. I don't know if they are necessary for my new tranny. I heard about the new SCX10 shaft yoke is not working with Robinson outdrive gear very well (always loose connection).

MIP Spline Set Center CVD Kit (SCX10) MIP10145

Traxxas Screw Pins 4x13mm w/Threadlock

Why go with two motors? Why not just one good quality one and volt up?

I didn't use two motors setup right now. But I may consider this bullet proof tranny can be extended to two motors in future.

This is my current motor setup:
TRAXXAS STAMPEDE VELINEON 3500 BRUSHLESS MOTOR & VXL 3S ESC SPEED CONTROL 3350X

My future plan is two brushed motors if the current setup is not powerful enough for my dingo snow plow.

This is the finished bullet proof tranny. I'm just amazed how tight everything fitting together even they come from different vendors.

Very Nice, who makes that tranny mount?

You'll have the same problem with MIP's if the trans outputs are not pin through design - the set screws get loose. With Hot Racing gears you can use Axial steel outdrives with the pin through.I don't know if the newer Robinson gears are updated for this.

I took my RRP gear to work and had a guy in the machine shop drill holes in the flats on the gear for the screw pins to go thru, that way I didn't have to use set screws to hold the drive shafts on.

Grub screws will stay tight on the robinson gear if you loctite them in.

Nice trans, if the single brushless doesn't have enough oomph then 2 brushed won't be much better. I'd go with a single large brushless and be done with it.

You are right. One bigger brushless will be good enough. The reason I use L3 dual mount plate because I like the way it screws to the gearbox (it's reversed comparing to the stock one). It's really secure. Another good thing about L3 plate is it's so thick and it's never bend or vibrate.

One more thing about L3 mount plate, you may get hard time to fit the big brushless motor to the low position. For dual mounting plate, you can choose to mount big motor in the high position.

The skid plate is from Integy. It's for AX10 Scorpion and can't fit for SCX10. I just used it for demo purpose.

I want replacements for the stock gears, plastic teeth have stripped does anybody have the aluminum or metal gears that fit in place without changing the housing?
