Default Major noob question

I am not new to RC, just new to scale crawlers.
Got a new Scx10 rubi just took it out for the first time, pretty dang fun. Crawled all over a rock wall behind my crib.
After a few min of driving it seems to be dragging a lil. Could just be normal.

If you grab a front and rear wheel or even a left and right and turn em by hand are they pretty hard to turn? Just trying to see if its binding somewhere.

It's running on a 2S with about 80% left. It's not a battery issue.

Tanx.

PS:

Rolling resistance is normal for a crawler. It won't roll easy like a standard race car.

You might try pulling the pin screw's from the drive shaft's (@ each axle end). With the F&R drivshafts disengaged from the axles try turning the wheel's by hand and see if the issue is still there... try turning the spur gear by hand too while the shafts are still disconected... that should at least narrow down the source if it is binding up somewhere.

It's likely motor resistance. Take the pinion off the motor shaft and spin the tires. Reset gear mesh appropriately.

The ESC has a drag brake. It's a good thing. Enables ya to stop and look around to pick a line, with out having to feather the throttle to keep it there. There could be binding, but if the Rig rolls around fine, you should be good.

But not when power is off?

It is very easy to find out if your drive train has abnormal friction. Do as I previously said and remove the pinion gear from the motor and see if the tires spin freely. If they don't, there is something wrong, if they do then put the pinion back on and keep running it.

If it's still tight with the pinion off (leave the pinion off) then disconnect the drive shafts from the transmission outputs and spin the spur gear, if it spins freely then your transmission is fine. Then spin a front tire and then the back. The idea is to isolate the issue and doing this will pinpoint the location of the friction (if there even is any).

Will do this as soon as my wifey goes to sleep.
Thanks.

Thanks, gonna do this later tonight when I get a chance.
