Default Little BIG BLUE

I think I finally have something worth sharing, I have a buddy that has a BAD ASS 80's 1:1 Chevy that Im going to be basing this SCX off of.. everyone likes pics so here ya go...

This is right after he lifted it, no tires and wheels yet obviously..

This looks ALOT better!

Ok so anyways on to the progress pics, I picked up a Clodbuster body off of craigslist for 30 bucks about a month or so ago...

Obviously it needed some work so first off came the stickers and most of the hardware.. then the filling began!

I HATED the gap in the bed/tailgate so filled that too..

Just a couple pics of the body sitting on the posts my digo body fits on, going to end up using heavy duty velcro to attach and make a plate that uses the existing body mounts..

Then I traded picked up a honcho and traded my dingo for an SC10 with MMP and a 4.5 tekin, that thing flies!!

Anyways... Heres the body straight out of paint..

Initial mock up..

Obviously the rear links were a bit too long so shortened them up and heres the result..

The body isnt fully mounted yet, I still need to make up the plates for the velcro to attatch to..

Thoughts or opinions..? I do plan on new tires and wheels sometime in the near future..

Specs..
Ive made my own links
BR-XL
35 turn motor from Holmes Hobbies
rc4wd winch
Gens Ace 5000Mah 50c

Some progress on the truck..

I made my own wheel wells and "boat sides" just wanted something that would block the motor from sideview, added a CB whip and hard mounted the body on the rear to the chassis...

all of these parts except the wheels wells and rear body mounts were made from a wineguard RV antenna, my dad owns an RV business and this one was broken, so it was FREE! the wheel wells are made out of a sour cream container that is painted black..

Example..

First thing I made out of it was a CB whip, the spring was inside the white case on the antenna so I just straightend it out a little bit and put some heat shrink on the bottom, still need to find some kind of little ball for the top..

Next I used the "wings" of the antenna and cut out the "boat sides" as well as two tabs each to mout to the chassis..

Fresh coat of Black..

Body mounts made from thick sheet metal.. bolted where the rear light bracket/frame brace is..

works just like a funny car!

all buttoned up!

Testing on the rocks in the basement..

Next up is some rear wheel wells, and I need a new front bumper, wanting to go with a metal one and wouldnt mind trying my hand at brazing, the plastic bumper and mount are just not up to my standards with a winch on it, it seems flimsy..

Why did you have to quote every picture ? Why not just post your question ?

Thanks buddy, Ive read that the clod bodys with the chevy symbol on the grill are the first generations, now they have the 4x4x4 or nothing on the grill if I remember correctly, So whenever the first clod kits were coming out would be my guess to how old it is, pretty old lol

Looks great, perfect 80's color choice. What does the new wheelbase measure with the Clod body?

Great build! Thanks for some inspiration. I am going to be doing the same thing soon. But I am going to build it to look like my old Chevy. I had a 76 and it was my first vehicle in HS.
