Default Rotating the drives shafts to protect the splines?

My drive shafts are as pictured below and I assume this is how they all are stock? The lower parts that slides in to the shaft is getting roughed up as it hits rocks damaging the splines.

Can I not (Am going to try) install the drive shaft the other way round? It will then protect the splines and also cause less hooking up on debris as the outer is smoother...

I always install my shafts the other way around, I haven't used the wb8 shafts but can't see a problem.

Make some rear upper links that approximately 6 mm longer than stock.

Yeah, first turn them the other way, but more importantly, adjust your driveline angle by adding spacers, or making new rods as mentioned above. it will tuck the whole shaft up under the links.

Thanks folks. On the stock plastic rods at the moment so will look at replacing those soon.

You can also do the 3mm link mod to the drive shafts and it makes them pretty bomb proof.

on the rear axle i use upper links that are the same length as the lowers. it clocks the axle up and keeps it from hitting on everything.

You can gain a small amount just by putting the lower link on the outside and the shock on the inside of the axle mounts. You may have to use a spacer at the top mount of the shock to keep it from hitting the frame, though.

It tried this by using the same uppers (all I had) and it clocked up way to much so it had the same axle chatter....

I also tried this but did get shock rub. I think I need to make/buy some links to resolve the chatter. The splines are now protected though.

Where you put metal rod in the drive shafts to toughen them up. I shouldn't need this running stock. The Wraith never twisted them so am sure the SCX10 in stock for will not.

If your running in water/mud, debris gets into the shaft and jams them up when flipped.

Good point. But cleaning them from time to time is less costly than them being road-rashed to death! Haha
