Default Pinions? Are steel quieter?

Hello.

When stock Rubi ran fairly silently. But I geared her down to 14/87 and currently 16/87. Both the other pinions are Aluminium and at speed it sounds like a dentist drill! Are steel pinions quieter?

Yes, in my experience steel pinions are less noisy than aluminum.
