| New Honcho owner
I am a proud owner of a very awesome Honcho I purchased this morning. I was going up to my LHS to pick up a Dingo kit but they sold the kit! They had it up there for months and finally when I want it, someone bought it. I opted to grab a Honcho instead. I started out trying to get into the track racing scene with my Losi TEN-SCTE. I had a Mamba Monster 2 ESC and a Reedy Sonic 550 4.5T motor! I realized that I didnt have the time to get into this so I sold everything and went with my original plan: buy an SCX10! I have no idea where i want to start with mods because there is so much you can do to customize and improve performance. I am having a blast playing with this truck! I am very surprised how much extra parts Axial threw in the box. I cant wait to do some customizing! I also want to thank Ty@Tekin for his advice on different upgrades I can consider when it comes to motor/esc down the road. I love Tekin products and I want to look into their brushed motors when it is time to swap the stock one out. Last edited by JetBlast; 06-12-2013 at 05:11 PM. |

I purchased two RTR Honcho's just yesterday... already changed the shocks on both (100 mm, big bore, Losi soft springs) and I'm awaiting a 2nd 4 link/steering kit before installation on both. ^ these two mods really make a difference over the stock crap. The articulation has improved just from installing the shocks... The 4 link is gonna make that even better I'm sure the mods will never stop and the wallet will always be lite These are great RC trucks if yer into the scale thing |

Start with gears. Then MIPs. Assuming Fletch24 has already helped with battery relocation and tranny flip&mirror. It's all up to you, then. I wanted real bumpers so RC Rock Armor and DinkyRC were some of my 1st upgrades.

The battery is already on the front of my SCX10 above my servo and my rx box. It was packaged that way in the box. Does it mount a different way in the front? Fletch recommended shock upgrades so I will go with that. I am not a big fan of the stock shocks or drive shafts. Coming from an SCTE, that is the first thing I noticed that I need to upgrade! |

Ahh, I forgot. You have the same RTR that I got. Batt already up front. I've read that it would be better behind the front shock tower, 90 degrees to the position it's in now, though. Preference, I suppose, and lower COG. Yeah, shocks and drivelines would be the next best upgrades, imo.

The flip/mirror reduces torque twist: The ability of this thing to flip itself over sideways!

Can you post a photo of what the flip/mirror looks like when completed? I am not totally following it.

| Re: New Honcho owner several custom options... and even the factory option of laying that out back. Leaving mine where it is up front... but it will be getting lowered. Quote:
and already swapped out the shocks for better. Much improved articulation. I went with 100 mm, big bore, Traxxas T-Maxx shocks and soft Losi springs. I had these laying around doing nothing... thought I'd give 'em a try. Worked well in outfitting both of the Honcho's. Ride height is near factory... but there's a little squat built into the static suspension. (intentional) I can preload those more if the chassis weight goes up. Currently I have 30 w oil in the shock, 3 hole piston. Not too bad... could be just a wee bit lighter on viscosity. But not if I keep adding more weight to the slug. Lol I have near 5" articulation, three tires down. And I'm waiting on a 2nd link/steering kit, before installing... So's the son and I can wrench together. I'm thinking the 4 link is gonna offer a little bit more articulation... hope those links arrive tomorrow enjoy dumping boat loads of cash into that black hole --------------------- Thanks kj10 for posting pics and the clarification regarding the torque twist... sounds like a smart move Last edited by TacoCrawler; 06-12-2013 at 10:47 PM. | |

I noticed in my bags of fun, I can swap out the Y link for the independent links. Are there any advantages to using the 4 links on the upper axles over the Y links? I tried to do some google searching on this and searched around on here. I plan on buying the full kit later on down the road.
